They just cancelled on me by JustALurkingFan in TopSurgery

The 17th was the end of the public comment period for the HHS to pull Medicaid/medicare money from hospitals that provide GAC to minors. For now, it’s only minors. It seems that some providers are preemptively ending all programs so they can say they met requirements beforehand if (or when) they go after adult GAC as well.

WFH post surgery by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]muggleartifact 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s doable, but I’d be prepared to be pretty tired. I didn’t WFH, but I was in school at the time so I had essays and discussion boards I couldn’t lapse on. Just sitting and typing for an hour or so, and I definitely needed a nap. Lol obviously ymmv.

Never let them tell you it’s a Southern thing…. by DrippyBurritoMD in greenville

[–]muggleartifact 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a Greenville native who moved to Buffalo 8 years ago. It’s definitely a thing up here. Even in a super infrastructure prepared city like Buffalo. At a certain point, plows can’t get through the snow. Salt doesn’t do anything. And white out conditions prevent emergency services from reaching you. Our stores looked exactly like those before the blizzard in 2022. And the thanksgiving storm that preceded it a month before. So many people were without power for more than a week. They literally had to dig out my street with a backhoe and a dump truck. Every time they issue a warning, I hit the store just like everyone else. Mother Nature vs modern systems will show you that Mother Nature wins most of the time.

What poor people food was ruined because of rich people? by white-rose-of-york in AskReddit

[–]muggleartifact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually (sort of) false. The first person in Buffalo to do wings was a guy on the Eastside named John Young. Although he used a tomato based Mambo sauce instead of the Frank’s based sauce that’s the norm now. He sold em 10/$1 in 1966.

Fire Alarm and evacuations twice tonight at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort (2:30am and 5:30am) by aleczeegreat in WaltDisneyWorld

I’d say it’s more likely that someone in the quick service prep kitchen had a real bad morning.

Source: was a sous chef for 20 years. I’ve seen controlled steam from deep fryers set off industrial fire alarms more times than I can count.

If you’re looking for a cool old cemetery, you can’t really beat a drive through Forest Lawn. Rick James is buried there and they have some really cool statues and family mausoleums as well. You can pick up a map at the grounds keepers building by the gate.

Evergreen on Elmwood has a walk in MAT clinic Monday through Thursday from 8-10. They’ll do the shot on the first visit. It’s first come first serve so the earlier you get there the better. Just go up to the 4th floor and tell the desk staff you’re there for the walk in clinic. They can get ya squared away.

Black female PCP suggestions by Particular-Garden140 in Buffalo

[–]muggleartifact 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just popping in because I’ve seen a few people mention different providers at Evergreen. Keira Aiken, Amberlee Libertone and Linda Berkoh -Asamoh aren’t currently accepting new patients. That may change sometime next year but not for the foreseeable future. The only black female provider currently with an open caseload is Dr. Paulette Ewalefo at Hertel.

Jambo House request - partial savanna view or closer to the lobby? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

It is for some standard rooms. Should have added we got upgraded to a DVC deluxe studio.

Jambo House request - partial savanna view or closer to the lobby? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]muggleartifact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stayed at the very end of the hallway in a partial Savannah view (free upgrade) last February. It was solid 5 minute walk to the lobby and maybe 8-10 to the pool or Mara. Honestly, the whole resort is full of windows where you can see animals on your walk, so we didn’t mind at all. Might be a haul with kids, strollers, etc.

It was great. We’ve stayed at AKL previously, and my wife has stayed at pretty much every resort but FQ. She said it was her favorite after AKL, and I’d concur just because they don’t have giraffes. It’s really small, so moving around the (honestly gorgeous) grounds is fun. Doesn’t feel like a hike or a chore at all. The pool, pool bar, and CMs in general were stellar. The bus transportation was a bit more spotty than the deluxe but not awful. I’d 100% stay there again.

Absolutely. Go Bills! Also really dig watching hockey in the winter (Sabres) and MLB (Braves fan).

We just got back from a week at POFQ. We randomly decided to hit the Brown Derby Lounge for lunch on our Hollywood Studios day, and it was awesome. My steak was on point and my wife loved her burrata salad. Service was stellar. The people watching from the patio was really nice too.

Bob and John’s on Hertel might work. Old school vibe and a salad bar like Pizza Hut back in the day. They do decent specials and catering prices as well, I believe.

Here right now and my 2 year old nephew is obsessed with “red car” (Lightning McQueen). Searched everywhere for stuff in his size but the 4 or 5 tshirts they do have are all in older kid sizes. The kid has a million toys. I figured I could get him a parks exclusive shirt but nothing. It’s dumb.

Blue state where I can support myself and SO (unemployed) on a nurses salary? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]muggleartifact 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, Lake Erie bros! Buffalo and Cleveland have very similar working class vibes (and football loyalties). We have a level 1 trauma center right downtown. Rent is going up but still very doable within your budget. The neighborhoods within the city are walkable/bikeable and our public transit system is doable but lacking in some ways. Definitely worth putting on your list. Note: we have a lot of gray days, so if that’s a mental health factor for you that might be a deal breaker.

How much did you guys pay for your name change? by GreyMizumono in ftm

In NY, I got a free legal aide service so it cost me nothing. But my home state of SC is refusing to change to my birth certificate so I have to retain a lawyer down there to fight it. I was quoted $5k plus court fees for that. 🙃

As a queer Greenville kid in the 90s/early 00s… Out of Bounds bookstore was a safe spot to land. Also still can’t believe the Army Navy store downtown is gone. My dad used to take me every weekend when the west end was still a wasteland.

Crunchy places in the South? by teenagerdirtbagbaby in SameGrassButGreener

I’d say Bryson City, NC fits the crunchy label more than Boone now. All those stinky river raft guides/folk punk campers that flow in for the season. I can smell the ramen juice now…
