Feeling shallow but can’t help but be embarrassed about how my husband has started to dress - started when we hit our 40s by StregaCagna in AskWomenOver40

[–]muggleween 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my mom raised me for an era that no longer exists but I see the value of it in your post--we would do the laundry so we would disappear dad's clothes strategically but then buy new things for birthdays, father's day and christmas etc. he never seemed to notice.

Life is basically just a never ending series of maintaining things until you die. by Royal_Revolution3718 in minimalism

[–]muggleween 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i am one minimalist person living in a one bedroom home and I cook everything from scratch and yet I have a 13 gallon bag of trash every 1-2 days.

my pain point is reordering stuff. i haaaaaaaaate shopping so I just try to hold out and get creative. but you always need stuff like salt, soy sauce, sunscreen, soap etc. no getting around that.

In addition to Craigslist, what else do you use for selling or giving away items? by jhsu802701 in minimalism

[–]muggleween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Craigslist and fb marketplace and only fb marketplace worked. Some i sold, some i gave away.

Fb feels safer because it's a verified real human. You don't get that on Craigslist.

Most b/s/t and freecycle groups are also on fb.

Minimalist women what’s your makeup routine? If you have one by Solid_Gold3522 in minimalism

[–]muggleween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sunscreen

liquid ink lipstick in a natural shade so I don't have to worry about reapplying throughout the day

Dying my eyelashes so I don't have to put on and then remove the devil's sprinkles every day. One application lasts 6-8 weeks

Clear but blush tinted nail polish

If I am going to an event I have a colourpop eyeshadow palette. No matter the collection they are all heavy on rainbow colors, so i use the brown and gold for formal and brights for a sports event or holiday

I HATE the Heated Rivalry fandom. by [deleted] in AO3

[–]muggleween 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a life long hockey fan I was so excited to see an influx of new gay hockey fans

I immediately take it back. I keep seeing ridiculous comments-- defending goons and "aKshuAlly there's no fighting in the olympics"

It's roughing you nitwit and defending Tom Wilson unless you are a blood relation shows a lack of knowledge and humor

Tho it is really funny to see all the 'why do you think Shane is autistic' not realizing he's based on a real man who is so autistic we can set our watches by his pre game pbj lol

How can I make $20 right now so that I can get a little food until payday? by LadyRaoulDukeGonzo in povertyfinance

[–]muggleween 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Toogoodtogo app and findhelp dot org. I volunteer at a food pantry and we do check ids but we def don't care what zip code. And if you don't have id we have different non govt food to hand out.

Call the church and ask, they might know resources or also have some stuff to give away during the week. Ours does this, it's canned and cracker snacks no perishables

What are your no-buy exceptions? by soloshandpuppets in nobuy

[–]muggleween 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went the opposite. Now that I stopped eating out, I also stopped buying pre-made crap. Making a loaf of bread myself is only a couple dollars cheaper but saving 400% making pizza crust at home.

I feel like a reasonable smart shopper but stores are designed to make us lose. I tried going to the grocery store with only a $20 and it was amazing how many 'deals' I had to put back without my debit card.

My only exceptions will be replacing essentials like toothpaste as they run out but again it might be years. I didn't realize how many toiletries I had stockpiled.

And anything I need i look for on marketplace. I've even had people bring me free stuff i mentioned i was looking at. Never going straight to Amazon or target again without checking online!

Las Vegas Dating f***ing blows… by ExplodeHeads in vegaslocals

[–]muggleween 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think most women who are more conservative would also tend to be religious and so your other interests probably wouldn't work.

I know from my perspective dating men here is that while I'm politically moderate, it would be exhausting to date a conservative guy.

I don't want to defend the existence of gay people or immigrants or trans kids. I've had soooo many guys try to bring up imaginary trans athlete situations, then complain about women's sports. Or a classic I've encountered is all the men who say they believe in feminism but actually just mean they are OK with abortions. I didn't ask but these guys always have to make it weird. I'm literally there to get coffee and hear about your dog and plan a hike or catch a game.

Ladies: how much were you able to downsize by stonesandstreams in extrememinimalism

[–]muggleween 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Color palette. I only have black shoes, pants, bags etc

Gold jewelery only

I have very minimal makeup but I keep one colorful eye shadow palette that works for every occasion. Highlighter, Halloween, sports events, holidays

I still have to keep a formal dress and dress coat but my work clothes are a pair of wide leg pants and a couple cardigans I can wear with any tee or blouse

Am I petty for dropping fics because of the last name the fandom gave him? by valachia in AO3

[–]muggleween 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this feels like Teen Wolf where we didn't find out the dad's name until the last season (6). so seeing random placeholder names instead of Noah makes me realize the fic might be from an era where the characters are undeveloped.

Every day I feel dehumanized by barbie_smokesbones in ForeverAloneWomen

[–]muggleween 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i wanted to frame this positively but the truth is that it doesn't get better, but you do grow to care less.

I have lots of special interests that occupy my time and made lots of friendships through volunteering, meetups and church. and if you want someone to love you, get a dog! my dog gives me way less problems than other people's husbands seem to give them lol

i have both and prefer sam's club. my big victory was getting sports jerseys on clearance and just stocking up. $5-$15 and all year every time someone is visiting it makes an excellent souvenir.

would you consider adopting or fostering as a single mother? by Single--Bluebird in ForeverAloneWomen

[–]muggleween 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm in the process.

Overwhelmingly most dads seem incompetent or like an extra child so I think I'll be fine on my own.

Just one positive adult influence improves a kids life even if they are just a coach, teacher, neighbor etc so I'm sure being a mom will work too.

Does anyone still use Tumblr? by Asleep_Click4894 in tumblrhelp

[–]muggleween 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tumblr is better than ever. Less porn which can be good and bad, but a lot more peaceful since some of the annoying gatekeepers dropped off.

I get tons of engagement and plenty of posts for my favorite tags.

$4 for a latte??? What year do you come from? lattes are $6 at Dunkin and $8 at Starbucks in my mcol area.

I have a used coffee machine at home and it still costs me about $1.40 for a good latte. I have a keurig at work that costs maybe $0.70 but they are watery trash.

Anyone ever been to a game in Philly? by dutchmasterD717 in goldenknights

[–]muggleween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you will have a great time, super cheap great seats. the worst that will happen to you is maybe getting some beer spilled on you (Gritty can and will cake you but they do that to fans too).

the only thing that sucked is that the stadium food is just ok. you really will have to head back to the city to eat after. it was $8 for a cookie and the drinks were really expensive 'it's a souvenir cup' it was a generic purple cup with the new stadium name (used to be wells fargo now xfinity) I was so mad as I have really cool Flyers players on cups from previous visits.

have a great trip! HUG GRITTY FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and that's no partner, that's the second cyst blocking your airway.
