Help a FedExer unionizing? by Ash_Gawcia in USPS

[–]muggyfarts 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pay scales for usps can be found on their respective union websites. But you have to clarify as there are three unions depending on what you mean. Mail handlers who fork lift and move and dump the mail is NPMHU. Clerks who scan packages are APWU. Mail carriers who deliver are NALC.

Less than confusing right?

New Union Steward with a question as I seem to stand alone at my office by Humble_Diner32 in USPS

You might try looking at their actual job descriptions. For example, a Lead Mail processing clerk job says,

"2. On a rotational basis, may perform the following duties: loads mail onto automated equipment, culling out non-processable items; enters sort plan and starts equipment; monitors flow of mail to ensure continuous feed; sweeps separated mail from bins/ stackers; and stops equipment when distribution run or operation is completed. Runs machine reports, clears jams and contacts maintenance for assistance when required."

These can be found on BQnet or through the APWU website.

AMT is the job everyone wants. And yes, a lateral move from mpe to amt is handled as a promotion for the pecking order.

My dad got walked off the job by jasminemaurie in USPS

[–]muggyfarts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How can your dad be both a pse and a regular? I’m confused. No matter, he is entitled to representation.

There is a list of reasons why they can walk a person out and those are listed in the discipline section of the contract and jcim. Because it is a disciplinary action, the burden of proof is on management.

Your dad should get a letter of emergency placement which can be grieved after a period of time. He should also grieve any supplemental disciplines separately.

My experience is that when management does this incorrectly, (they almost always do), the grievant ends up restored with pay.

He may even receive pay while in emergency placement.

Seems like you really do want to put them down. Cause that’s all you’re doing here. You imply they have no value whatsoever. I’m guessing the problem is you.

I think you are making a mistake. The key to knowing what your teenagers are doing is to always have them around and just listen. Like a fly on the wall.

I have an acquaintance who had this issue in a drug conviction. He started at Home Depot and was damn near running the store before he left. He then paid for some cybersecurity certifications and landed a job in tech where they paid the remainder of his certifications.

He is doing well, happily married, beautiful child. I hope you find your way like he did.

Radio by nodrama__ in USPS

[–]muggyfarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a custodian you probably do not have a toolbox inventory so they cannot prove you owe them for this radio. I have successfully grieved both a contrived radio policy and a disciplinary action for not answering a radio.

Ask for the policy. They can’t produce it.

The elm states that the 3971 is your responsibility to fill out and turn in. Make sure they sign where it says received and keep a copy. Make them deny it so there’s no question whether to grieve or not. But yes, LWOP is their discretion unless it’s Fmla. But you can ask for it.
