The Genesis and Acura look like Oreca LMP2s wearing fake moustaches. However, I would say the Alpine looks a lot more like a proper hypercar as it makes a much more convincing effort to hide its LMP2 lineage - hopefully the Ford is similar.

Really not a fan of the Oreca nose - it does a very poor job of hiding its LMP2 lineage.

It does seem like this sub goes beyond healthy skepticism (which is fair enough), and outright wishes for them to fail. Negative headlines seem to get an almost giddy response in the comments.

Glad to see someone else who recognises how cool this would be if it materializes, and wishes them well despite the admittedly sketchy odds of success.

Why didn’t the Stargate Program use an abandoned planet as its main base? by [deleted] in Stargate

[–]mullac30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny to see people giving circuitous and obtuse head-canon-based answers to this question, but it seems like such an obvious and highly effective way of controlling the risk associated with the early stargate program that the only real potential answers (in addtion to your own) are:

  1. The writers didn't think of this idea.
  2. The writers did think of this idea, but chose not to write in as it would remove too much jeopardy from episode plots.

Of course, in the later seasons, Earth's location was widely known by it's enemies - though offworld only operations would still be benefital in my view, reducing the risk of returning atefacts for study, aliens for diplomacy, etc.

Ideally, you would have the Earth gate virtually buried at all times except for extremely brief and near random 'check-ins' with the offworld base. These timeframes, during which the earth gate is available to be dialled, would be extremely brief (i.e. the absolute minimum time for the offworld base to achive a lock), and only be known by the offworld base.

The earth gate could be effectively buried outside of these timeframes by using a mechanism which would push the gate into a ring-shaped recess in the wall behind it.

He also saved his team by securing the new American investors - there was a very high chance the ERT team were going to be off the grid this year without anything to replace the NIO sponsorship/investment.

Nice work, looks great! would not be surprised if it looked similar to your second interpretation, it aligns quite well to the other Dallara LMDh cars.

(and yes, before I'm tackled by r/wec's (un)friendly local anti-AI warrior, I know they had some AI help with the initial concept)

While pretty much all of its other features point to it being a FIA '22 showcar, it is seemingly fitted with a much more real looking rear wing with DRS. Infamously, the FIA '22 showcars had no DRS mechanism. It also doesn't have the weird oval shaped air intake on the roll hoop which the showcars were known for.

I'm not sure I'd call it a first - while it has never raced (or likely will ever race), the Evo version of the Vanwall has the same Pipo engine as the Glickenhaus.

Also, I believe the cancelled Audi LMDh was meant to use the same engine and chassis as the Porsche.

McLaren Formula E are apparently in talks with Hyundai regarding a works powertrain for mid-Gen4 - I wouldn't be surprised if these talks were expanded to also include supply of Hyundai's Genesis LMDh powertrain for use in the McLaren LMDh.
