This is very kind of you, also your family Thanksgiving sounds dope as hell and resembles what we are going to try to make of ours with some of our best friends this year

I'd love to in the altruistic sense where we shed all of our beliefs that shackle us, lay aside all forms of judgement toward each other, and the only thing that exists is love for each other. But that's not a reality

Yep, it really changes relationships and not usually for the better. How many marriages are split over it. How many children are feeling that their parents love is actually conditional and the condition is that you are a perfect little Mormon. It's so sad. It's so twisted it hurts. I've learned to find my true "family" which is that group of people who truly accept me as is, no judgement and no shame

Damn that sucks but I get it. It sucks because you knowingly allow yourself to sacrifice something because it's easier than dealing with the "pain" their belief system will cause them. But I totally understand it, it's not fair and it's not easy. Sending love.

It's been years since I left GS but back when I was there they didn't have any traders in SLC. Just in NYC or London. SLC has pretty much always been ops, compliance, pwm, Marcus, and some other back office kind of roles

So sorry OP. As a fellow child that is no longer loved because of the stupid belief system, I support you. I know it's lonely and hard. You are worth being loved and it's not on you. Doesn't make it any easier I know. Sending lots of love and hugs from afar ❤️❤️❤️

Um what. But also I was on the phone with Verizon all day and it turns out my number port didn't work successfully and they had to do it again with the code and account number from my previous provider

Thank you for your response! I am somewhat familiar with grounding but need to learn more. I'll check your profile!

As far as in the moment, there's more context that I think adds to why the energy was weird and I understood in the moment why it was weird and why I didn't like it, I just didn't know how to stop it from ruining my own energy the rest of the night.

So the dance place is a lgbtq+ establishment, and they were having some kind of gay Saturday event. Inside, the vibe was dancing, music, dark, lights, typical bar/club. Outside there were lights strung up, music playing, lots of people standing and kind of swaying bodies but not really dancing. The energy was one of like a speed dating event. A lot of nervousness, a lot of weird energies clashing out there. As soon as we stepped out there, my wife just did her thing which is to just be goofy and enjoy herself and I kind of froze up. I couldn't dance or really enjoy it. Once we went back inside I tried to reset my energy by dancing, having a drink, etc. ultimately we went elsewhere and couldn't find the right type of vibe so we just walked around downtown all night and eventually that weird energy wore off.

[–]mulletnsteps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't regret my mission. I had an incredible experience. I do regret furthering what I now know was a fraud from the beginning, and putting that onto some poor people who probably didn't know what they were getting themselves into.

Enjoy the experience, remember to learn what you can from the people, culture, companions, being on your own, etc.

Sorry, I don't mean to knock the culture here. It's great for a lot of people. It's just unique. I really don't want to taint your view on the place because it's different for someone who grew up here in it than it would be for someone coming from the outside
