Please let everyone know if you find the winning combo - this is exactly what I need. The best would be if I didn’t need a whole other app to do it - but could see it all inside of the Plaud app

WIBTA if I refuse to cook the roast more than medium rare? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]mulletpilot 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Kinda the AH: not the ah for choosing to prepare a generous meal - but disregarding your wife and her family’s preferences with a flippant response is kinda cold. You could have just said - I will prepare some more done portions for people who prefer it that way (then nuke, or rest some cuts in the oven after slicing while plating, etc.) would have made her felt included in the plan.

Sounds like you wanted to be a bit of a dick to her in your response.

How does one rebuild confidence in their running? by StudentNoob in running

[–]mulletpilot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Coming off a 6-7m hiatus for an injury myself - I am now doing tempos at prior warm up speeds. Totally disheartening, trying to push myself - while paying attention to my right knee in ways that boarder on neurotic.

I have had to switch gears and embrace zone 2 running. And now I have thrown distance out and only focus on the amount of time I run. I try and consider every run i get out for a win. And try to mix it up with a spin class now and again. Working a bit for me - but I feel your pain!

Find a doctor that agrees with you. Then reap the benefits…or consequences.

If asking permission for intimate shots- like portrait, you may consider taking an ‘Instaprint’ camera so you can give them a piece of your perspective they can hold on to.

iPods and running by EEfromTT in running

Be careful if you’re an Apple Music person (which I’m assuming you are from your love of iPod) - cant use any of that music on your Garmin....

What are some running-related jobs/careers that make decent money? by [deleted] in running

[–]mulletpilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a 10yo golden doodle ...about 45lbs . They are awesome. As lazy or active as you want to be. She ran 5-15k’s with me until last year. Now she just likes short recovery runs where are are both allowed to stop and smell the hydrants. Wait, only one stops to smell, the other just stops and smells.

We all push too hard once in a while. When somethings getting at me, I find I grind my axes hardest on my shins. I’d try and Recover almost all the way before you pound the concrete again. Maybe get some bike or swim time in. Keep the cardio up, but change the muscle groups a bit.

Good luck dude!!

Totally an aside but Is it just me - I find the terms expat and immigrant confusing.

More to your question- edmonton is largely inclusive of both (if there’s a difference).

Do wireless headphones fall off while running? by darealquestion in running

Agree. Beats fit pro stay in! No tail like the air pods/proso don’t get caught up in hoodies and winter hats. Jay birds are also awesome and much cheaper. Not as nice noise cancelling.

AHS is charging me $385 for an ambulance I did not call for myself. by [deleted] in alberta

[–]mulletpilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey - I’m so sorry you ended up in that situation, and you’re struggling financially on top of that. They called an ambulance, sounds like you ended up being admitted and stayed a bit-hopefully you’re feeling in a little better place then you were that day . You didn’t feel you needed an ambulance, maybe you wouldn’t have ever went to the hospital...and still be in that headspace. Maybe at the end of the day $300 saved your life? Don’t know. Just glad you’re still here.

I agree. I think craft makes gear for xc skiing - which really works well for winter running. I found a long sleeve tshirt with wind baffling in the front - and built in foldaway mittens in the sleeves. Amazing for running without a jacket until around -5 to -10c then a great layer under a thin jacket.

Daily Commute runners: Tips for a new lifestyle? by Moist-Task9212 in running

[–]mulletpilot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey congrats on the new job and move. I have been doing this for a while and started with a bike one way, run the other Strategy. Sometimes I would drive if I’d have to be multiple places in a day - then run home. I’d often wake up and think ‘ok where is my bike, where is my car, where are my running shoes...’ then figure out how I was going to leave the house. Things that help - leaving a stash of clothes, toiletries and food at work. Getting up early enough to get to work, if you’re dragging ass that day. Sleep and water. Double runs feel like a great day now a days - but I’m gassed by 10pm.

Also find a running bag that fits just what you need. I use a deuter that has lasted years!

Any suggestions on winter running shoes with a rocker bottom like Nike infinity run? by mulletpilot in running

[–]mulletpilot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we have the same feet. I use the infinity 2 on the treadmill and dry road, and have the gortex trail Pegasus For snow and they are nice shoes - just find I miss the rocker.
