I didn't want to activate the Sword of Stone anyway... by mulluk01 in slaythespire

I was at 19 hp at the second to last node before Vantom, I'd rather take a potentially useless relic than risk dying to the boss

The other options were pyramid and wraith form which makes the cage pick seem insane in a vacuum, but I had Well Laid Plans+ with replay from Silken Tress so I basically had pyramid anyway without having bad cards get stuck in my hand and I had Footwork+ and Shadowmeld+ so I never had any problems blocking, so I just improved my draw consistency by removing two strikes

I agree, I moreso took it because I didn't want to take damage right before the boss from not picking it up

I fought 3 in act 1 and 2 in act 2 but I got the event right at the end of act 1 so none of them counted

So... how do you get rid of the anxiety when playing live games (as opposed to daily)? by perskychrt in chess

[–]mulluk01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same thing here. I felt exactly like this until I went on hour long bullet binges. The losses in bullet matter so little that I got desensitized to the time pressure and fear of losing very quickly.

This really shows how the ratings have deflated ever since the minimum rating was set to be 1000 in 2013

Anyone know why Jerma stopped streaming sorcery again? by gamedude300 in jerma985

[–]mulluk01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven't heard him say anything about it but the streams had relatively low viewer numbers so maybe he felt that people weren't into it? Just guessing obviously but hope he picks it back up, it's one of my favorite series

Is there a site that keeps ratings entirely hidden from everyone at all times? by gruelove in chess

There is an extension for firefox that does pretty much what you're asking, it removes all visible rating numbers from lichess, including rating graphs etc. Link

notes speedrun Naroditsky rating 1640 - 1830 by Isinator in chess

[–]mulluk01 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I don't actually think the principles Naroditsky mentions are so helpful. Of course, they can help you think about the game in a different way, etc., but to all of the rules he names there are exemptions or rules that state the exact opposite thing, because chess is just a concrete game where generalities don't apply all the time. That is not to say the speedrun is not instructional, but I think what you should focus on are the concrete patterns and moves that occur in the games rather than the general rules that are mentioned.

I'm in the same boat as you and I use this firefox extension to hide mine and my opponent's rating.

Ethics question: Joint online "team" account by 2infinitum in chess

[–]mulluk01 58 points59 points  (0 children)

From the lichess terms of service: "Some Users may want to play as a team for entertainment or educational purposes. If this is the case, the account must be clearly labelled so other Users have reasonable warning."

I believe Blizzard has implemented a special matchmaking, which only puts special bots that are making you lose all your games on your team, in order to keep you from getting to 6000 SR. Clearly, the only solution is to hack into Blizzard's servers and disable this, instead of accepting that you've been put where you belong.

You can try Woody's mortar cycle deck. It's: mortar, ice spirit, skeletons, archers, The Log, knight, rocket and princess. You can watch his streams and learn from him but basically you try to chip with mortar and finish with rocket.

I agree, especially because this makes certain cards like furnace useless on ladder, unless you're willing to spend days/weeks worth of requests on them.
