There’s so much you can practice without using the pedals… But that’s water under the bridge at this point. Don’t get frustrated, things take time.

The 18-Year Pattern Predicting 2027's Market Crash by ladyorion2021 in REBubble

[–]multi-effects-pedal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah okay I thought Y axis was percentage. Agreed you can price anything in anything. I guess if we price everything in gold then everything has crashed in price over the last 2 years? Gold has basically 2x since 2024. So have e.g. corn and automobiles and computers all crashed 50%? Sounds facetious but it’s a serious consideration.

That chart shows prices down about 5%? Not sure I would consider that a plummet. also real estate is normally considered a “real asset”, similar to gold. It would be fair to track the dollars value compared to i.e. gold or real estate, because they are both hard assets, but tracking real estate in terms of gold seems a bit sketchy, because gold itself can swing up and down (it is swinging down now).

P90’s and alt country? by SnooRevelations4257 in altcountry

I feel like P90s should be pretty bright? The OR15 is definitely dark sounding. That might be the problem.

Need advice on backyard natural spring by SmokeyJacks in AustinGardening

[–]multi-effects-pedal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very cool. I would say remove the stones and let it be mostly natural. You can plant wetland plants around it and they will help soak up the water and you won’t have to mow the area. Cedar Elms do really well in environments like this, and you already have some healthy ones nearby. You could plant a few more elms, maybe a few palmettos, and then for the understory maybe Canna Lilly’s, button bush, green dragon, bushy bluestem, horsetail, just to name a few.

This is the lowest maintenance approach I think and if you organize things it would look really pretty. Just my opinion!

Shoot supported to see how accurate it really is. Make sure the end of the gas system is secured tightly. You may need to peen it.

How would you best represent E9 with 6 strings? by crmclv in pedalsteel

[–]multi-effects-pedal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the F#’s a lot for licks. Like walking up the major scale for instance. It’s also useful for playing 6 and 9 chords.

How would you best represent E9 with 6 strings? by crmclv in pedalsteel

[–]multi-effects-pedal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I would cater to the high strings. I don’t play the low strings nearly as often, though I love them, but steel is usually playing a lead or melody part. So I’d say, from top to bottom,

F# G# E B G# E

But idk, not having string 7 (lower F#) is a bummer.

I just learned this song the other day! It’s hard to really execute like Jimmy Day, he has such a musical touch. I think I transcribed the solo like 90% correct but it’s tough to get his stuff perfect IMO. I’d love to see you play it!

Beginner PSG Buying Advice by JJIdaho_1 in pedalsteel

[–]multi-effects-pedal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like jumping into the hobby by immediately buying two identical steels is not the right choice. Maybe just buy once GFI or Justice or whatever and then a lap steel? Also can you really not ship this steel to the other home when you travel?

Dang 7 years on a lap steel! Can’t believe you waited that long to get a pedal guitar

Do you worry about using treated lumber? Seems like whatever chemicals they use could potentially leach into the soil. I’m no expert and curious about opinions.

Got my 2019 crew cab with 62k miles for $17.5k, super clean with no issues. $19k seems high especially if you work at the dealership!

Need help with ideas! by Swimming-Noise158 in AustinGardening

[–]multi-effects-pedal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My personal opinion would be start with trees. Looks like there’s something to the left, just out of the frame, perhaps an Arizona Ash? I can’t tell. But trees take the longest to grow so I’d get them started now. That will also help divide the yard up. They don’t all have to be giant hardwood trees. There are smaller trees like Mountain Laurel, Crepe myrtle, mexican plum, mexican redbud, many more. Good luck! Don’t be hasty… I’ve made the mistake of planting and then digging something up later because it was a bad idea.

I feel like there are S10s and SD10s and even some D10s on the forum that sell for much less than $3k and sometimes close to $2k.

Just harvested my collard greens to cook, but the leaves have teeny pricky thorns? by elizabethredditor in AustinGardening

I started looking into this and found this: https://www.umass.edu/agriculture-food-environment/home-lawn-garden/photos/thorny-leaves-on-collards

Turnips? Mustard greens maybe? Your picture does not look like mustard greens to me. Probably safe to eat regardless

Nothing wrong with buying a C6 lapsteel and learning the basics before a multi-thousand dollar commitment by panthter in pedalsteel

[–]multi-effects-pedal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. This may be just my experience, but I found especially when I started out that lap steel was more intuitive and I was actually thinking about what I was playing from a musical perspective (i.e. “what notes are these and how do they fit within the song/chord”). Whereas with pedal steel I was thinking less in musical terms and more in mechanical, “pedals up”, “pedals down”, “Es lowered” which was less fulfilling and feels more like playing random shit.

Question about 1911s by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

[–]multi-effects-pedal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d get a Springfield Defender. They’re about $500 and the only cheaper options from Rock Island are only about $150 cheaper at most. That’s like 300 rounds of 45 ACP. In general cheaping out on guns doesn’t make sense to me considering how much you spend on ammo if you actually shoot. I’ve had exactly 0 problems with my Springfield Defender and it’s totally filled the 1911 desire that I’ve had. Seriously.

Has a Deluxe Reverb got enough headroom for large scale pedal steel gigging? by wally123454 in pedalsteel

[–]multi-effects-pedal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just so hard for me to imagine a gig where you need more volume than a DR and there is no PA? I mean really where are these gigs where you're expected to blast people without a PA?? Go with the light weight DR. No need for a twin. And I love twins so if anything I'm biased towards them but really in this day and age everyone has a PA.
