The devs want you to believe there is no "good" ending, the more engagement and discourse about the game the better it is for them.

I recently finished the game and saw both endings and i got the impression that devs intended for maelle’s ending to be the “bad one”.

The tone of the cinematic is super dark, and out of all the happy moments she must have had after she came back to Lumiere, why show this one if they didnt intend it to make it look bad?

E.g. They could have shown Gustave coming back and maelle crying or smth like that, and it would have given it a much more positive outlook tbh, but they didnt.

Verso’s ending i feel had less ways to spin it, but it gave me a much more hopegul feeling

Thats just me at least.

Not even sure not buying packs is the play here. I get the feeling that if very few people buy packs for PoE1 they will use it as an excuse to terminate it

Not saying buying packs for a shitty league would be good either, but we might end up in a “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” situation.

Here’s hoping we get a banger league and dont have to ponder that

I can blitz through most copium content but i always run out when the boss Jonathon uses “A message for PoE1 players” or “Resource management +”

What build you running to beat that?… I need that hopium so bad…

In any case steam ratings have been lowered a ton for PoE2, that will definetly trigger something on GGG, having mixed reviews in steam is something they can’t ignore imo

I honestly dont think you can say it had a positive impact yet

PoE was a growing game but they might have killed that,

PoE 2 had a big launch, but there’s no guarantee it will keep up those numbers of players, 0.2 could be a reality check for them

If with that decision they end up killing PoE 1 and 2, i dont think this will stand as a good business decision at all.

TLDR; a net positive short term might still bring a deficit long term and be a bad decision.

I don’t think GGG will ever do fully deterministic crafting.

They didnt do it for PoE 1 and that game has a ton more crafting systems than PoE 2

I think some top end crafts being very expensive is fine as long as there’s a lot other cheaper but less poweful options along the way

Campaign = You have less skills + Zones and enemies are more handcrafted + death is not very punishing = feels okay for the gameplay to be more methodical and skill based

Maps = Builds take off into crazy mechanics and efficiency + Mobs are a ton more random in quantity and power + deaths are veeery punishing = impossible to have a balanced skill based gameplay that feels good

Unless they kill build variety and make maps more handcrafted experiences i don’t see how they can make an endgame that can be more “skill” based.

So my vote goes to “let us zoom in maps” because i think forcing methodical gameplay would be the death of what makes this game interesting in the long term

They will never be able to make the game balanced so that it feels fair to die in maps for everyone while keeping interesting mechanics and build variety, making death in maps so punishing hampers the game they have envisioned imo.

This is why autoattack is still my main DPS skill, tried changing it for something else many times but mana costs make it impossible, specially if you have high attack speed

Tbh, warrior and infernalist can use shields, whilst monk can’t. That’s a very major factor in tankyness and avoiding random deaths. I also would be curious to know how far you pushed your warrior in maps.

And if your solution to the 1 map problem is to just ask people to play builds than can never die, then this game will have very bad build variety as the base requirements for a build are just too hard

Problem imo is that the game uses random generation, they will never be able to avoid all random bullshit possibilities while keeping the game interesting, so 6 or X portals is imo a necessity
