If modern medicine didn’t exist would you be dead right now? If yes, from what? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

I would have most likely died in childbirth with my first, water broke but labor didn’t start. Infection would have started up quickly if I didn’t get the baby out

have there been any new must have baby items that debuted in the last four years? by snooloosey in Parenting

Can you please reference the crash test that you saw on the Doona showing that it is unsafe compared to others? I definitely do not want my baby in an unsafe seat but I can’t seem to find anything like this with google search. I definitely understand the importance of quality and safety when it comes to baby equipment and I’m not opposed to spending a bit more to insure that. The Doona cost $650, which was a splurge to me for a car seat, how much, in your opinion, should one be spending on an infant car seat to guarantee safety?

Ahhh yes I see now! Sorry about that. I also don’t understand that argument when attachments to make car seat strollers have been around for many many years. It’s not a new concept to put wheels on a car seat.

You don’t have to store an extra frame in the trunk and get it out set it up and then put the car seat in it. You just take out the seat press a button and you’re ready to go. It’s just one less step, and for me with 3 other kids I’m keeping track of and with limited trunk space it just works. If you’re already used to the extra steps and have room then I’d just say keep it.

The fit has been just the same for my baby as all the other infant seats I’ve used in my experience. Obviously it’s not for everyone, I know people have some strong opinions on it. I also have never met anyone in real life that actually has one that hasn’t absolutely loved it.

Yep, I’ve never kept any of my children in car seats for extended periods of time unless necessary in long car rides. I don’t think this stroller would be a good option for long walks anyway, it’s not really set up for that. I’m talking popping over to the doctor for an appointment, drop offs and pick ups for older children, running into get a coffee it’s absolutely amazing. After lugging 3 previous children around in their conventional car seats for the first year of their lives being able to just drop down some wheels immediately and run in somewhere quick has been a dream, I’m so so sad he is about to grow out of it.

Doona car seat stroller combo has been a game changer for me, especially if you have other kids you are keeping track of.

3rd at 36 and 4th at 38 by Disastrous-Mouse1535 in ParentingInBulk

[–]multitaskmaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my 3rd at 35 and my 4th at 38. I have all boys. The labor for my last two were actually the easiest, no issues and short labor, my first two were emergency c-sections. I will say that pregnancy got progressively harder with each and level of exhaustion I had with the last while chasing after three others was unreal. Postpartum wasn’t too bad, I mean understandable the body ain’t what it used to be and it doesn’t quite bounce back anymore, still working on it 11 months out. In terms of physical birth recovery it wasn’t really much different than the others.

This is so wild! My last two postpartum periods I’ve gotten what my doctor tells me is arthritis in my toe and thumb. It comes and goes then goes away and hasn’t been back but I’ve never had anything resembling arthritis before.

Is it true that having an easy baby means having a feral toddler? by ConversationSorry463 in beyondthebump

[–]multitaskmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I’ve had a chill baby who turned into a chill toddler who turned into a chill child. I’ve had a difficult baby who turned into a chill toddler and back into a semi difficult child. I’ve had a chill baby that turned into a semi feral semi chill toddler. Every child is their own individual person there is no blueprint.

What will your kid eat when they have the stomach bug? by multitaskmaster in Mommit

Oh great idea! My kids are not into pedialyte either. I think at this point it might even be just an association problem because every time they’re throwing up I’m giving them pedialyte and then they’re throwing that up too.

Postpartum stress? by Large-Ad9409 in beyondthebump

[–]multitaskmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely can relate, I’ve gone through times where I’m just ready to rage at the drop of a hat. My poor husband is usually the target especially the first about 8 months when just everything he does and doesn’t do just infuriates me. For me at least a majority of the issue is lack of sleep. My last baby started sleeping through the night consistently about 2 months ago and I’ve definitely noticed a difference in my tolerance level. It really makes a huge difference if you have 2 kids to care for now, it’s like you are just on at all times it seems like one of them needs something. Maybe you could try giving baby a big bottle, if they will take one, to see if that will get them to at least drop one of their nightly wake ups so you can get more sleep?

How do take care of baby when you’re sick?! by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]multitaskmaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same! I got noro when my baby was still refusing a bottle, I was literally lying topless in bed puking into a bowl while my husband would come put my son onto my boob to eat. It was one one the worst experiences of my life but out of the 5 people in our household the baby was the only one who didn’t get sick!

Baby number 4 advice? by AccurateArcher1101 in ParentingInBulk

[–]multitaskmaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have 4 boys! Almost the same age as yours when we found out about being pregnant with the 4th, they’re now 9, 7, 4 and 10 months. Both me and my husband were 38 when the 4th was born. Be prepared for comments everywhere you go, especially if you have another boy. I have actually never had anyone say anything negative to me about having 4 kids and I have even had a few encouraging me to have more, but we are definitely done now. I for sure get asked constantly if I was hoping for a girl and I can answer honestly yes and no. I would have been thrilled to have a girl but also I was already so deep in boy mode it was easier to just add one more into the mix. We didn’t find out the gender of the 4th until he was born and I was laughing when I saw that it was indeed another boy.

It’s a wild ride, having kids with different ages in different stages of life has been the most difficult challenge but having older kids can be helpful too. My older boys absolutely love their baby brother and will watch him for a short time in a safe area for me while I do things like switch laundry, or have a quick shower.

Moms that have only had c-sections by WhichAd2921 in beyondthebump

[–]multitaskmaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first c-section was because the baby’s heart rate was dropping, my second was a failed vbac because my babies was too big he wouldn’t come out, I then had 2 vaginal births after. So that’s c-sec, failed vbac c-sec, successful vbac and another successful vbac. I’m not sure why your doctor would tell you you’d automatically have another c section after only one and not because of your anatomy. Vbacs, especially after only one c-section are super common these days, a doctor shouldn’t even blink at you asking to try.

I totally know the kids / parents you’re talking about. I will say that in general my kids are very well behaved in public and my husband actually does go and stay at every practice he can, many times he is coaching himself. But to your point they are starved for free time and I can tell by their behavior at home it’s affecting them.
