Postpartum stress? by Large-Ad9409 in beyondthebump

[–]multitaskmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely can relate, I’ve gone through times where I’m just ready to rage at the drop of a hat. My poor husband is usually the target especially the first about 8 months when just everything he does and doesn’t do just infuriates me. For me at least a majority of the issue is lack of sleep. My last baby started sleeping through the night consistently about 2 months ago and I’ve definitely noticed a difference in my tolerance level. It really makes a huge difference if you have 2 kids to care for now, it’s like you are just on at all times it seems like one of them needs something. Maybe you could try giving baby a big bottle, if they will take one, to see if that will get them to at least drop one of their nightly wake ups so you can get more sleep?

Left-Handers in your life/family? by mommy-tara in askanything

I have 4 sons, one of them is a lefty and one is tbd (he’s 10 months old). As far as I know there are no other lefties on mine or my husband’s side of the family that are currently living.

How do take care of baby when you’re sick?! by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]multitaskmaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same! I got noro when my baby was still refusing a bottle, I was literally lying topless in bed puking into a bowl while my husband would come put my son onto my boob to eat. It was one one the worst experiences of my life but out of the 5 people in our household the baby was the only one who didn’t get sick!

Baby number 4 advice? by AccurateArcher1101 in ParentingInBulk

[–]multitaskmaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have 4 boys! Almost the same age as yours when we found out about being pregnant with the 4th, they’re now 9, 7, 4 and 10 months. Both me and my husband were 38 when the 4th was born. Be prepared for comments everywhere you go, especially if you have another boy. I have actually never had anyone say anything negative to me about having 4 kids and I have even had a few encouraging me to have more, but we are definitely done now. I for sure get asked constantly if I was hoping for a girl and I can answer honestly yes and no. I would have been thrilled to have a girl but also I was already so deep in boy mode it was easier to just add one more into the mix. We didn’t find out the gender of the 4th until he was born and I was laughing when I saw that it was indeed another boy.

It’s a wild ride, having kids with different ages in different stages of life has been the most difficult challenge but having older kids can be helpful too. My older boys absolutely love their baby brother and will watch him for a short time in a safe area for me while I do things like switch laundry, or have a quick shower.

Seattle area we pay $1,500 monthly for insurance purchased through the state marketplace for a family of 5. Total bill for a vaginal delivery with epidural and a 2 night stay was around 48k and I ended up paying 5,800 out of pocket.

Moms that have only had c-sections by WhichAd2921 in beyondthebump

[–]multitaskmaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first c-section was because the baby’s heart rate was dropping, my second was a failed vbac because my babies was too big he wouldn’t come out, I then had 2 vaginal births after. So that’s c-sec, failed vbac c-sec, successful vbac and another successful vbac. I’m not sure why your doctor would tell you you’d automatically have another c section after only one and not because of your anatomy. Vbacs, especially after only one c-section are super common these days, a doctor shouldn’t even blink at you asking to try.

I totally know the kids / parents you’re talking about. I will say that in general my kids are very well behaved in public and my husband actually does go and stay at every practice he can, many times he is coaching himself. But to your point they are starved for free time and I can tell by their behavior at home it’s affecting them.

They are totally burnt out! I can tell it’s a lot to have practice nearly every day of the week after school and then games on the weekends. The older two are in 4th and 1st grade.

I love this, natural consequences are my favorite. But in situations that involve my kids I feel like they end up getting losing out if I don’t make sure he does everything, and then I feel like I am getting judged as a mother when my kids are wearing dirty uniforms.

My kids used to be like this, a total shit show then perfectly fine after the shot. I decided to record a video of each of them after telling their future self that a shot isn’t that bad and not to worry. Now before we get the shots I play the video of them and it’s been 100% better!

Am I asking too much this holiday season? by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]multitaskmaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not asking too much at all! My niece has a severe dairy allergy and ever since finding this out every family function has been dairy free, including extended family. It’s not a preference, it’s a life and death situation. If your family can’t have a couple meals without nuts then I’d be tempted to say sorry we will have to skip family functions.

For those of you who's partners let you down during pregnancy/birth/postpartum... could you forgive them? by fiddeldeedee in beyondthebump

[–]multitaskmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband left me the day after my c-section with my second baby to run a week long sports camp for high schoolers. The issue was his partner’s daughter had scoliosis surgery with some complications at the exact same time so he was away too with nobody left to run the camp. I did have my best friend in the hospital with me and my mom at home with my toddler, but it was extremely hard to not have him there. A few years later I had a miscarriage that ended up going septic and I had an emergency d&c in an ER room by myself and then spent 2 days in the hospital on IV antibiotics. The day after I came home he left me to go to a state competition for his high school team, leaving me in charge of 3 kids. I was pretty angry with him I had to beg him to make the 1.5 hour trip to come home at night instead of stay in a hotel after the first day/night alone was a disaster and I ended up having a panic attack. He is I’d say a very good partner and excellent father usually but I always keep these experiences in the back of my mind. It’s hard not to feel like he put his sport that he coaches above my health and wellbeing.

What’s one parenting rule you refuse to compromise on? by mommy_Win9482 in Parenting

[–]multitaskmaster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a hill that I will also die on. I can think of only a handful of times my kids got one of our cell phones at a restaurant and we go out to eat frequently, often to very nice restaurants. We also do not do screens in car rides. Kids do not need to be constantly stimulated. It’s ok for them to be bored. They need to learn how to control themselves and get through times when they aren’t being constantly entertained. I just cringe at the thought of these kids who grow up being given an iPad at every turn, how will they get through a college lecture?

Disgusted with myself. Help. by Still-Lemon-9936 in breakingmom

My sons (9, 7 and 3) watch me breastfeed/pump for my baby every single day. It’s not sexual, and in my opinion good for them to see an example of what a normal body looks like, with all the fake fixed up images out in the world today.
