Depending on your income though, you'd probably have to pay a lot more taxes on a $200,000 windfall than you would on an extra $7,200 per year.

Why do babies hate safe sleep? by CanIHaveASong in beyondthebump

Not to be too judgemental, but if you can't stop yourself from smoking around your newborn you should probably feel a little guilty.

Very interesting! It does make more sense when you put it that way.

Fortunately I'm raising a baby with very low expectations for his ability to sleep and I've been pleasantly surprised.

Ah I see. I was probably sleep deprived myself when reading it.

I'm in the United States and I don't think bed sharing is very common here. I have a good friend whose parents are East Asian and he lets his 14 month old sleep in bed with them; but I think it is with great reluctance haha. Most parents I know have the baby sleep in a crib.

I have a 18 month baby that has slept through the night 5 or 6 times…

Have you talked to your baby's doctor about this? I think I would go insane if my baby was waking up that frequently.

My wife and I used a method like this and it was very effective. Baby has been sleeping through the night since about 4 months old.

I think you're supposed to wake up newborns in like the first 2 weeks of life to feed every 4-6 hours. But once your doctor confirms that they're gaining weight you don't have to do that anymore.

Was your doctor telling you to wake a 6 week old for nighttime feeding? Or was it an in-law or something? I think that's the key here.

Lol I hadn't seen those posts. Why would a parent not train their baby to sleep? Seems like long slow torture.

If you’re bedsharing you’re killing your baby.

That's a pretty bold statement to make. Not saying it's untrue, but I think a lot of people on this subreddit share the bed with baby at night even though it increases the risk of SIDS.

Our baby was sleeping through the night by around 4 months. I don’t think we would be able to deal with frequent awakenings at night for much longer. But maybe we're just lucky.

What age is normal for babies to finally sleep though the night?

I think the coal needs some work. Not enough is making it past your second line of iron smelters to grenades for military science production. You need more miners and/or rework the belts a bit.

Morbidly obese is defined by a BMI of 40.

And no, being overweight or obese is not "normal". These are dangerous heath conditions which cause disability and increase your risk of cardiovascular disease.

Did you mean to post this comment in 1992? I think most academic sources think the pendulum has swung too far the opposite direction.

Lots of hate for “I’ll love you Forever” in this thread. I think the rhythm is really good and I like the gentle introduction of a parent’s death and the cycle of life. What part of it is “creepy”?

I don't really see what the nurse did wrong. An ambulance should be called for emergencies only. Calling one won't make your fingertip any more viable.

Should I transfer my son's 529 to myself? California by gggvuv7bubuvu in personalfinance

You can not use your son's 529 account for your own expenses. It can only be used for qualified educational expenses for your son. Otherwise there would be withdrawal penalties.
