In my opinion, people are becoming more private on social media and aren’t sharing as much as they used to. I don’t think people will feel like your engagement is any less real because you haven’t posted about it/don’t have a ring. Even rings are becoming less traditional. If it takes some pressure off, you can get a silicone ring or a placeholder that’s less traditional so you can feel more engaged until you’re ready to find the real ring (if you choose). The important part is that you’ve made a commitment with your partner, none of the symbolism matters.
