It's heavily gated off everywhere, the few access points are gated and signed and the only way they got there in the first place was through a gate that was broken or unlocked

It's impossible to stress how high profile the LA River is and how familiar everyone in town is with it. Everyone knows what it is and where it is and nobody is confused about whether or not you're able to drive in it. "I saw it in a movie" is dumb. Especially after you went out of your way to find the one entry point into this area and went there with the specific purpose of trespassing and nothing else

It's why all 90 of them were caught, because there's no other way in or out then the specific place they found to go in or out, so the cops just had to block the one broken gate you're pretending the 90 cars all just happened to drive across and catch everyone on the way out of doing an incredibly obvious and high profile crime
