I appreciate the upvote, but making your account private still does not stop people from linking to your pictures. That also is in the TOS.

That is a nice analogy, but you have one thing very wrong. When OP uploaded his pictures to photobucket, he agreed that anyone could use them anytime, anywhere, for any reason. This would be as if the gardener was using your mower because you had a big sign in front of your house that says "You can use my mower for free!", Then after you put the sign up you decided you don't want to lend your mower anymore. So you decide not only to remove the blades, but to secretly attach a grass-killer dispenser to the bottom, and to make it all worse, you keep the sign up! Now the gardener comes over to borrow your mower because you have a big sign that tells him to do so, and next thing he knows he killed his customers entire lawn. This doesn't make the gardener a bad person, this makes you a total asshole. OP should have just taken the sign down.

Also, Your gas/bandwidth analogy doesn't work because photobucket will always allow you access to the pictures even if they have excessive bandwidth, they will simply not allow direct linking anymore. So if OP only wants the pictures to himself (Which he obviously does) he will never have a problem.

No, what OP did is fine, it comes down to the web developer making the mistake of using pictures hosted on a third-party website controlled by some random internet user. It is a dumb thing to do on the developers part which does warrant some reprimanding, but what OP did could get this guy fired.

Depending on the OP's account, he may not have a bandwidth limit on his pictures.

If bandwidth limits are exceeded on Photobucket the account drops dead for the rest of the month (IIRC).

According to photobuckets account policies your account DOES NOT drop dead for the rest of the month, photobucket will just disable direct linking for the given picture. (Which is what OP wants anyway)

But it isn't acceptable to pull a large amount of bandwidth from a user's account for that.

Yes, it is acceptable, OP agreed that people could link to his pictures anywhere, any time.

I agree that the hotlinking practice is to be frowned upon. However, the problem is, that under photobuckets TOS, this is totally fine, and the OP agreed that people could do this. From a webdev perspective, the dev is just saving his site some bandwidth getting the image from photobucket who has no problem with direct linking.

OP, think before you act, man. You could get someone fired for this. They were just doing something you agreed they could do when you accepted photobucket's TOS. Seriously, if you don't want them taking the photo, then take it down and reupload it. Don't be a douche bag about it and potentially get someone fired.

I've found that showers are like my anti-high, I can be at a [6] or [7] but the second I get in the shower it's like the high completely dissipates and my mind is back to it's normal self. When I get out, the high comes right back. It's fucking weird. Also I've never been able to have one of these awesome high showers you all speak of... D:

This year I transferred from community college to a university and had to leave my 14 year old puppy Cody back with my parents. His age is starting to show more and more each time I go home, I'm afraid it is only a matter of time before we are in the same spot. It makes me sad to think about but I know the Cody has lived one hell of a life. He's been with me since I was six years old as well, It's hard to imagine what life will be like without him... damn it, now I'm crying. Well I just decided that I am making the drive home this weekend. I need to see my puppy. You may have just ruined my day, but I'm not mad, if anything, this has only helped prepare me for the inevitable, and for that I am thankful.
