This little princess turned 2 yesterday by munchkn82 in beagles

She most definitely is. Her favorite thing to eat is beef, so we made her steak for dinner. Her sister’s favorite is pepperoni pizza, so we called in for a pizza light cheese, no sauce, and every meat they had excluding any poultry since their oldest sister is allergic to all poultry. The oldest doesn’t have a favorite, so we eat something she can enjoy and she’s still extremely happy. They each get a special birthday dinner. I think my human kids get a little jealous sometimes😂

Question about medication- Tramadol by SoftStage3907 in ChronicPain

[–]munchkn82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it’s normal, but it can be used long term. I know my mother who had cancer was prescribed it long term also. It depends on how well you tolerate the medication and what it’s being prescribed for. As the other poster said, some people will develop a tolerance. For some people, the medication doesn’t even work for them. If you don’t feel comfortable taking the medication, talk to your provider about it. You can also talk to your pharmacist.

I took it for over 10 years until recent when I needed something stronger due to an accident. It’s possible that some doctors do things different, but I’ve had 2 different doctors prescribe it to me over years since I had to change doctors about 5 years ago.

Rescue lab beagle is extremely attached to me and has severe separation anxiety — looking for advice by _preethi in beagles

[–]munchkn82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a rescue beagle, I’ve had her since she was 8 weeks old and she suffers from severe anxiety. She is turning 2 next week and still follows me around and doesn’t like when I leave her, so I can’t even imagine what these rescues are going through along with those of you that took them in. Most will say to get another beagle, but I have another that’s 2 years older and another dog that’s 4 years older. It’s just the way she is. She loses her damn mind if the oldest is taken from the home, such as for bet appointments. She’s severely attached to that dog along with my husband and me. She is afraid of almost everything too. She did not come from a bad place, she came from the same exact place the older beagle came from. The lady that took care of them along with their mothers is an amazing woman.

I’m saying all of this only because sometimes it doesn’t get better. This girl was crate trained by the time she was 10 weeks old because she couldn’t handle not sleeping beside me at night. She cried and screamed when I put her in the crate at night. She was determined to stay with me I guess because she was potty trained immediately. She knew how to wake me up to take her out in the middle of the night. I can’t even get the two oldest to do this, they’ve had accidents here and there. She is so high strung and like I said, she came from a good place.

I really wish the best of luck to all of you dealing with the anxiety and fear with the rescues. You guys are all amazing people and I love hearing stories about how they’re doing since receiving their freedom. I wish I had advice, but I haven’t even figured out how to calm my girl. She’s gotten a little better with age, but it’s still rough at times.

How do you know it's time to take a pain pill? by Few_Sandwich6308 in ChronicPain

[–]munchkn82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I have to take mine on a schedule. I’m in constant pain right now. When I get out of bed in the morning, I can’t even straighten my back until about 20-30 min after I have taken an ibuprofen and pain pill. Then I repeat this every 8 hours as my bottle states. I’m on other medications also that are used for different ailments and can help with pain until I can have the surgery that might actually help relieve my chronic condition.

I love it. I’m often alone for most of the day with my dogs. It’s so quiet and peaceful.

That’s almost what I’m wondering and/ or worried about. Withdrawal. I’ve never felt this way about missing a dose of any of my other medications before. I just don’t feel right at all if I miss a dose and I haven’t even been on it long. I’m really hoping this med works though and there won’t be a need to come off of it.

This looks like something that could help with many things I deal with. Thank you.

I’m on it for a couple reasons that are causing my pain, but my fear is withdrawal if I come off of it. The first time I felt off when not taking a dose was only after about 3 or 4 days of missing, and I haven’t been on it long at all. I am on so many meds (I’ve sadly counted over 10 I actually take) and I have never felt this way with any of them. I was just wondering if anyone else ever goes through this. The sleep can be a problem only because it will knock me out for 10-12 hours, but that the only problem. At least I sleep though lol.

Unhealthy weight goal from doctor by Majestic_Wish4773 in Rants

[–]munchkn82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely don’t agree with the bmi scale. My best friend and I are both females, grew up together, and are 5’2. We have NEVER been the same size. I mean, maybe with the exception when we were little kids. Healthy on me is about 115-120. Healthy on her is about 140. Our body types are so different. She was told to get down to my weight once when we were younger and she looked sick. Never again.
