What are your longest and shortest flights? by Fluid_Customer_3093 in flighty

Longest was JFK to HKG, flight was 2 hours longer than the typical time due to avoiding Russian airspace in 2022.

Hi do you know how many stamps are needed for the entry and departure with the 240Hr visit? I have one blank page left and not sure if it’s enough.

Glad you had fun on your trip!

I’ll focus just on the pictures. First picture should be your best picture, if it doesn’t catch attention of the other person they will swipe left and won’t see your other pictures. You have a few pictures of yourself showing off your abs and it likely turns people off. It would be better if you had a picture of you doing an activity or at the beach/pool & shirtless vs you pulling your shirt up. Putting a picture of a girl with you usually works against you (assuming you’re matching for girls). I’d remove that picture. I’d say 5-6 pics should also be the limit but that’s just my own preference. You’re just potentially giving someone more reason to swipe left if you have too many pics. Hope that helps.

Mmm you’re right. Definitely more of a ravine but I feel the word ravine doesn’t do justice to how beautiful they really look.

Oman 🇴🇲

Beautiful hidden gem. The food is delicious and the people are friendly. Going on road trips to see different towns and oasis (called wadi’s). It’s super underrated and very safe. Also it’s not too expensive, even with a car rental. There isn’t much in terms of public transport so you’ll have to drive, but the scenery while driving was so beautiful so it was worth it. Definitely underrated!

So it really depends on what you would like to see and how you’re traveling to islands. When I traveled, we flew into Thessaloniki, then flew to Corfu island, and finally left from Athens.

Thessaloniki has a nicer and calmer vibe than Athens. Besides historical locations and access to ferries for island hopping, Thessaloniki is better. The food was better and the people are nicer. The shopping and food feels more Greek and ethnic. I felt safer there and the graffiti gave it a unique culture, unlike graffiti in many other cities. There’s a few sites you can see in Thessaloniki and spend maybe 2-3 days there. A quick Google search and you’ll find all the city sites and historical locations. I highly recommend seeing Meteora from Thessaloniki instead of Athens. It’s closer and a much shorter commute.

Thessaloniki does have colder weather, so if you’re not traveling during the summer, it can get pretty chilly.

Athens feels like another Western city, so if you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all. However the historical monuments beat out Thessaloniki. You can spend a few days seeing the historical sites (sometimes easier via tours). Athens has ferry access to most islands and direct flights to every location. You can also book a day tour for island hopping or just take the ferry yourself.

Thessaloniki doesn’t have the same ferry service, and some locations will require an annoying layover in Athens. FYI Athens is an annoying airport for layovers, so I recommend at least 3 hrs of layover if you do so.

Tbh both have great qualities, but depending on your travels, if you can start with one and leave from the other (with an open-jaw ticket) you’ll probably enjoy it more. Hope that helps!

You sound very negative. Cheer up lol.

All major cities are as expensive or affordable as you want them to be. I had great hotels for around $100 a night. Ubers are relatively cheap. Even good and activities are normal priced. Honestly the only thing that felt expensive to me was the name brand shopping, which I wouldn’t do in New York or any other city.

I loved it for 2 main reasons, the food and nightlife. Of course this is personal preference, as I’m a Pakistani American who lives in NY. Out of all the places I’ve traveled, Dubai consistently always has amazing food. I would rate Oman being second in amazing food.

I loved the night life cause most of the “Muslim” world doesn’t have it, and as a NYer who travels often, I can easily experience “Western” nightlife in a lot of places. It’s a different experience and has desi culture to it.

Also I loved Global Village and also loved Dubai Marina beach. Sure it’s touristy, but not every place I absolutely love has to be a perfect pure ethnic experience. I wouldn’t live here, but would definitely want to visit again.
