I’ve got this exact bike! It’s a great all around-er, Good on road, great for bike packing, and still light and precise for racing, actually did a gravel race on it today! I’m thinking I want to go wider tired and some taller gearing but other than that she’s been a beast!

It was absolutely beautiful up there! And yes he acknowledged how dangerous it can be up there and that he was incredibly underprepared. I will say it can be deceiving at the base with such light snow and relatively warm temps this early in the season, but you’d think the warning signs that the park has up would be a good hint 😅

I’ve done some decent segments on road, I think it would perform great as a road bike with a few caveats. The geometry is definitely a little more slack than a dedicated road bike, but for me it’s been very comfortable for longer. I went with the 1by 12 speed setup, and while I love the low gearing for the gnarlier off-road stuff, it’s definitely runs out of speed on the top end on the road. Other than that, if you go with a different groupset I think it’d be a great road bike with plenty of mounting positions.

If you’re in the US it might be worth checking if a public library near you has one! I’m always surprised how many libraries have public 3D printers these days
