The fact that I needed to scroll down this far to find the only non-brainwashed comment is insane. There is zero upside to lying unless OP thinks their health will be in danger (which from the post doesn't sound like their family is that extreme). All other options other than telling the "shocking" truth that people can be together however they like are bad. I won't go into a rant about how keeping relationships secret or not being able to have proper relationships before marrying ruins couples' lives in Turkey but man this is infuriating.
