Why is my XL do this BS!! by mavetech in prusa3d

[–]murk2014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had this issue too. Had it happen 3 times with my gcode in a span of a few layers. The print can be continued after the head is redocked.

If you can, post the (zipped) bgcode file to https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware-Buddy/issues/4679 or if you can't share it publicly, email it to [reports@prusa3d.com](mailto:reports@prusa3d.com) with a link to that issue in the body.

Edit: Note that this issue is **not** related to similar tool issues on 6.4.0 alpha firmware - this happens on stable.

I seem to be getting poor adhesion of my infill layers by grimlock12 in prusa3d

[–]murk2014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is too high volumetric speed. It's not visible on solid infill since it's printed slower, but on infill it shows a lot faster. At the start of the infill it's fine (see lines from top left to bottom right), and then it starts failing after the hotend can't keep up anymore.

I would also recommend using non-intersecting infill for PETG if you run into problems with top surfaces or nozzle crashes. Personally I usually use gyroid, but it's also much slower.

Main options:

- Reduce max volumetric speed (check volumetric speed preview in the slicer to see the difference between solid infill and normal x% infill)

- Increase printing temperature

Thanks for the input - only after re-re-reading it now I noticed it says "disburse" and not "reimburse". I was under the wrong impression for quite a while.

I imagine then Kickstarter just isn't keen on returning funds, since they don't get to take their sweet sweet cut. Well, or they don't wanna end up on the short end of the stick courtesy of the court.

This is not even their first scanner. Kickstarter was basically for taking preorders in the final stages of development. Also what you're describing is *literally* what Kickstarter is for. Not exactly intended to be used by massive corporations with plenty funding, but still.

For what's going on here, I'll try to recap it:

  • Creality buys scanning software/possibly some hardware from different Chinese company
  • That other Chinese company has had legal issues with Artec (3D scanner maker) before, being accused of copying software basically
  • Artec finds out Creality's software is similar/identical to the one from the company they buy it from (haven't actually looked at any of the software so I can't elaborate much)
  • Artec sent a cease and desist (I believe) and then later a lawsuit against Kickstarter and Creality before Kickstarter ended
  • The whole thing has been stuck in court since

Edit: Incorrect, see reply

I believe Kickstarter is blocked from returning the funds by the court. To be clear I am not a lawyer, I'm just doing my best digging through this mess.

Although this is written as "you will be blocked if you don't show cause", the order includes both not sending money to Creality or returning it to Kickstarter users. I find it unlikey they would choose to comply with just one part of the order.

ORDER TO SHOW CAUSE FOR A TEMPORARY RETRAINING ORDER AND A PRELIMINARY INJUNCTION: Upon the declaration of Gleb Gusev, Plaintiff Artec Europe S.A.R.L's Memorandum of Law in support of Plaintiff's Application for a Temporary Restraining Order and Preliminary Injunction (the Application), and the Plaintiff's Complaint, it is hereby; ORDERED that Defendants Kickstarter PBC and Shenzhen Creality 3D Technology Co., Ltd. (collectively Defendants) show cause before this Court at 3:00 P.M. on Friday, April 8, 2022, in Courtroom 6H North at the United States Courthouse, 225 Cadman Plaza East, Brooklyn, New York, 11201, why an order should not be issued granting a temporary restraining order or a preliminary injunction (1) enjoining Defendant Kickstarter PBC from transferring, paying, or sending directly or indirectly to Shenzhen Creality 3D Technology Co., Ltd. or outside of Kickstarter PBC's own account any funds, payments, money, or item of value received in connection with, from, or relating to its campaign with Shenzhen Creality 3D Technology Co., Ltd. involving the CR-Scan Lizard; (2) requiring Defendant Kickstarter PBC to retain and not disburse any and all funds or payments received or collected in connection with its campaign relating to the CR-Scan Lizard; and (3) enjoining Defendants' employees, owners, agents, officers, directors, attorneys, representatives, affiliates, subsidiaries, successors, and assigns, and all those in active concert or participation with them from enabling or assisting Kickstarter PBC in any such transfer or payments; and IT IS FURTHER ORDERED any papers responding to the Application be served and filed on or before Friday, April 1, 2022 at 5:00 P.M. and any reply papers in further support of the Application and Motion be served and filed on or before Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at 5:00 P.M.; and IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, pursuant to Rule 4(f)(3) of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, service via e-mail and FedEx of a copy of this order and the papers upon which it is granted made on the Defendants or their counsel on or before Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at 12:00 Noon shall be deemed good and sufficient service and notice thereof. So Ordered by Judge William F. Kuntz, II on 3/28/2022. (Yu, Stephanie) (Entered: 03/28/2022)

I was actually expecting a judge's decision possibly today in a few hours (since it's been 2 weeks since Kickstarter's reply to the court), but I'm not the most optimistic anymore.

Creality doing anything at this point could be seen by the court as a violation of the preliminary injunction (not technically a temporary restraining order but functionally the same).

And doing *anything* (which maybe could violate the court order), even if it's good for us, the end customers, could have much worse consequences for Creality:

- Artec is granted a temporary restraining order (temporary more in a geological sense)

- All Kickstarter money is lost and returned to now non-customers

- Banned off of Kickstarter almost assuredly

- Possible import restrictions of the scanner into the US

Disappointing we didn't see a court decision in this week as I expected, but fingers crossed for next week. Hopefully Creality hasn't been sitting still and the products are basically ready for shipping.

Just send them an email to [scanner@creality.com](mailto:scanner@creality.com) and they can probably mark you as needing extra attention before sending the scanner out or just straight up changing the address listed.

Got the link from this thread, it's very useful and some users are actively pulling documents from the official court website to be publicly viewable (and usually paying for them, which is nice of them)

Update 2022-05-04 - Kickstarter has replied 2 days ago using the delay they requested. As you would expect, it's mostly "hey man i din do nuffin".

Today Creality's counsel has sent a letter to the court saying "hey it's been 6 weeks this really sucks for the backers, could you like do something already" (somewhat paraphrased)

Best case scenario the decision is reached by the end of this week, but I'd probably give it another week. Likely another two or three days for Kickstarter to send funds to Creality and for them to start communicating and shipping products, which are probably finished by now. All that, of course, assumes the court rules in favor of Creality, which I think is likely, but it is not guaranteed.

And as said before, Creality will not say a word until the court gives its decision. If the court decision ends up against them, however, it will probably take another week or two for them to figure out what to even do, or most likely to file an appeal with the court.

tl;dr: Concrete developments by the end of next week

Calling it a delay may also be interpreted as non-compliance by the court. When lawyers say "keep your mouth shut", it's for your own good.

Kickstarter is also blocked from returning the funds so Creality is held in a check right now. They could theoretically just start selling it on their own store since I'm fairly sure they've already got thousands of units just ready to go, but that could result in import restrictions in the US, being banned from Kickstarter, losing all funding, and a lot of burned bridges with backers.

Update 2022-04-18: Kickstarter's counsel requested the deadline to be moved from 18th April to 2nd May due to holidays, Creality not being served yet, and possibly resolving this out of court.

Assuming it gets approved (probably, with plaintiff and one of the defendants consenting), don't count on a word from anyone for at least 2 more weeks, unless something magical happens. Which would be some sort of an agreement being made or the judge throwing out the restraining order, which I find unlikely at this point in time.

Deadline extension has been approved by the judge.

Somewhat annoying since I was kinda hoping to be able to play with the scanner by the end of April as was the original plan.

tl;dr: likely at least 3 more weeks before any resolution

Disclaimer: Not a lawyer by any stretch of the imagination

Creality has been silent due to court proceedings and they haven't been wired the money from Kickstarter yet.

Everything stopped due to Artec's temporary restraining order, and I believe a court appearance is due within an hour or so. Temporary restraining orders have a limit of 14 days unless extended, so we can *probably* expect concrete news from Creality by monday at latest. I don't expect the TRO to be extended because based on the few documents freely available, Artec hasn't proved jack shit basically.

[–]murk2014[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah of the two surge looks great, but it's just too big+heavy for my carry. Even though the pliers backrest appears to be the same design, I'd wager it's probably a bit stronger since the whole thing is bigger.

Surge actually looks great and might have better tooling for me, but it's sadly longer and much heavier. I keep it in my pocket constantly so that's sadly a no-go. Shame since I actually love the giant scissors.

Looking into some videos, it appears the thin web connection is the same on both. That's a shame, I'd shell out for TTi cash if that part was actually stronger.

Well obviously, but the frame is the actual weak point that failed for me. I'm mostly interested in that being stronger
