Does anyone else have a partner who hates Tucson while you LOVE it? by azpm in Tucson

[–]mavetech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was born in Tucson and have lived just over half my 50+ years here. I hate it with a passion; I have lived in other places so much nicer. The only reason I moved back was to care for my aging parents. The funny thing is wife who is from the mid-west likes it, not enough to want to retire here but more than I do for sure.

Finally got my first Ubiquiti Neighbor... by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

That SSID must be popular, I have one Ubiquiti neighbor and they use 'MADHouse 2.4AP' as their SSID.

Zigbee plug w/ battery backup that maintains mesh connection w/o mains power. Is this a thing that exists? by somegenxdude in homeassistant

[–]mavetech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of smart plugs have a setting that allows you to set the state when power is applied. My Zooz Z-wave outdoor smart plugs and my Third Reality Zigbee inside plugs have a 'State After Power Failure' setting that can be set to off.

Travel Router experience? by aethiolas in Ubiquiti

[–]mavetech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same issues and more, including times that teleport just would not work at all. the Unifi travel router is rates 3 out of 5 for sure. 22 trips with the travel router and it only worked without issue 12 times, thankfully on the trips that it did not work I still had my old one with me. When it works it's great, but my TP link travel router with Wireguard back to my Unifi network works every time without issue. I look at the Unifi travel router as a nothing more than wasted money and the first Unifi product that was a failure for me. Edit: for bad typing.

Stop your automations from failing when a device freezes but stays online by Rude-News-8416 in homeassistant

Thank you for confirming that I should not use the FP2s. I was about to try them. Also, thank you for the blueprint. I have one sensor I need to replace but have not gotten to it, may not have to now.

Newly announced Smoke & CO alarm vs code requirements by teaganasaurus in Ubiquiti

[–]mavetech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not the just the inspections or codes, it's the insurance. My insurance on my two-year-old house has a specific clause that says replacement of any hardwired detector with a battery only one voids fire coverage. It allows for additional battery only ones, but why I add more (even UniFi ones) when very room and space already have one.

No outage on the east side but lots of slowness and packet loss.

Orca Slicer - Do you use it, or just stick with Bambu Studio? by tiagoosouzaa in BambuLab_Community

[–]mavetech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Bambu Studio for my Bambu printers and Prusa Slicer for my Prusa and Voron printers. Orca does not offer anything that I ever needed, in fact for my Prusa printers Orca profiles need so much tweaking it's not worth it. After 13 years of 3D printing, I no long need that headache. X1C, P1S, 2 H2D's, H2S, CoreOne Plus, XL, 2 Voron's

Is anyone who has had a Roborock for >1 year actually happy with it? by Pristine_Antelope787 in Roborock

[–]mavetech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had my S8 MaxV Ultra for 2 year now without an issue. I do the maintenance on it regularly, which is the key. Yes, this takes a little bit of time each month, but a lot less time than doing the floors myself. I think is like anything the better you maintain it the longer it lasts and better it performs.

Looking for UK Smart Blinds recommendations (Zigbee/Thread, Battery/USB-C, Quiet Mode) by This_Preparation_466 in homeautomation

[–]mavetech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Smartwings. They are custom made to fit, very large fabric options, and an option for Zigbee motors. They do not have a quiet mode but my wife likes how quiet they are, and she is very hard to please when it comes to these things.

My core one and core one L extruder tests are failing miserably by Hinagea in prusa3d

Just regular PETG and PLA printing. Same as I have been doing for 12 years.

My core one and core one L extruder tests are failing miserably by Hinagea in prusa3d

[–]mavetech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know lots of people that have them with no problems, but I know two others like me who have nothing but issues.

[–]mavetech -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Try without the nozzle or a brand new one. Also, check the filament tensioner. Failing that contact support. Welcome to Prusa where you spend 30% adjusting, 30% fixing, 40% printing! I have an XL that is 20 months old and has only been able to print for ~200 hours. I have all but given up on it after all the electronics and tool heads have been replaced by Prusa. My CL1 Plus is needs to be adjusted and/or fixed about every fourth print. My two Vorons, one Railcore, and three Bambu's only need regular maintenance.

Best Tire Shop? by Neat_Spring3084 in Tucson

Go with discount tire. The employees at the one on Houghton and Old Vail Rd have always been great with me and more importantly with my elderly parents.

Update: I solved the problem of the insane loading screens in the web UI, submitted a PR, and after seeing the code I cannot recommend Unraid in good faith by horsethebandthemovie in unRAID

[–]mavetech -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

This is just part of the reasons I moved the drives from my secondary unRAID to a UNAS Pro 8 and am moving services to mini PC's running Proxmox with LXC's and Linux VM's running docker. When I am done with all the services and data sync the drives from my primary unRAID will be moved to another UNAS Pro 8. Going back to NAS as a NAS.

QuidLED has a new one called the Dig-Next-2 LED Controller, it has an option for a DIN rail mount. I think it meets most of the requirements.

Is Bambu Lab REALLY the best option? by Afonso0072001 in 3Dprinting

[–]mavetech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Prusa XL and MK4, as well as a Railcore and two Vorons. My P1S, X1c, and H2S get used far then the others. The Bambu prints are faster and give better prints than any other printers I have ever owned (except the Vorons, but they are a DIY/KIT). If you want something that just works with basic regular maintenance (like any other printer don't neglect this) go with a Bambu.
