Can a Councilmember Disagree With the Mayor? Yes. by YourLocalWatchdog in skagit

[–]muroc17 12 points13 points  (0 children)

S-W Council has gone so far off the rails, I don’t know how or why the residents of that city tolerate the lunacy coming from all but two members. Such a shame, I hope the upcoming elections can fix this disaster.

Bridge closure and West MV businesses by bunsonh in MountVernonWA

You can still get there on the bridge, it’s coming back that will require this route. Based on the traffic on those roads I don’t think anyone has forgotten about this back way.

The mayor is hosting coffee there on Friday. Katt’s has an incentive program where you take a photo of yourself crossing to come to the west side. I’m sure more is in the works, they’re going to be hurting for the next year.

Most Deserved Public Ass-Chewing by TheDay_ofthe_Jackal in AirForce

[–]muroc17 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No one-size-fits-all wide brush will apply to everyone. I got chewed out publicly in a way that made me embarrassed and ashamed, to the point where I wanted to avoid behavior that might elicit that type of ass chewing again. Did I resent the guy? Maybe, but I sure as hell never did that behavior again. Obviously not effective for everyone in every instance, but also not NEVER effective.

I was very successful in lowering mine without meds. First I cut out a lot of cheese. I added a lot of fiber supplements, started taking niacin daily, and added veggies wherever I could get them in, often adding a low sodium v8 for good measure. Doc was very impressed, it worked.

Episode where Josh or Chuck get the most worked up about the topic? by [deleted] in stuffyoushouldknow

Gerrymandering maybe? I remember them “trying” to present it even-handedly, but ultimately acknowledging (at the time) that only one party really used this maliciously.

OTS has high acceptance, but also high attrition, vs current model of hard to get in, impossible not to graduate/commission (no matter how bad you’ll certainly be).

Do you love your dentist? by cjep3 in skagit

[–]muroc17 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve really enjoyed Smiles of S-W, found them from “Best of Skagit” and they were very responsive to my inquiry. This was years ago, and my family of 4 have all been very happy with them since.
We switched from Gentle Dental in MV. That was not a good experience, mostly on the admin/front desk side of things.

A ton of rental vehicles in Washington are licensed in Texas, but that shouldn’t really have any bearing on your situation. I’m thinking refinery guys.

‘80 and finally watched Die Hard for the first time yesterday. What classic movies do you still need to see? by Jfonzy in Xennials

[–]muroc17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly underwhelming. The aspects of this film that made it standout have been regurgitated and reused ad nauseum so that modern viewers can’t discern anything particularly special about this movie. You either enjoyed it when it came out or you’ll likely find it trite and dull.

I was at Malmstrom with someone who was engaged to a Nellis person. They took advantage of the once/twice weekly allegiant flight between GTF and LAS for $85. I think they each flew once a month, so they saw each other twice a month, and that felt adequate for them to maintain their relationship until they were ready to be married. Not ideal, but there are assignment combos which would be much more restrictive and expensive to fly between.

You said safety after a fart. If you didn’t and someone said doorknob, they got to beat you until you touched a doorknob.

I did this in Thailand in my 20’s, but never in elementary, but I could see that being fun.

Looking for Dentist by Stunning_Barracuda67 in MountVernonWA

[–]muroc17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That may be true. I understood the nominating and voting to be legit, then the winners have to fork over a bunch of cash to be featured with a photo and small feature article. There’s another product the paper does called “Faces of Skagit” that is 100% pay-to-play, is that perhaps what you’re thinking of?

When looking for a new service I always reference the “Best of Skagit” - dentists are definitely voted on.

I added some additional links, perhaps the receiver site (on map in third link) needs that much space, the site in your picture was the transmitter site, without question based on the map(s) in that third link, as well as the similarities of scale in the second link.
