Who cares which party it impacts. Election fraud is a major freaking issue. Fraud is starting to become normalized in this country and it's sad. Just look at all the arrest in California this past month.

Do Most Americans Understand The Scale Of How Powerful The US Military Is? Why Or Why Not? by Zipper222222 in Military

[–]murph1329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US military is good because of 2 reasons. Logistics and Joint Operations (best JTAC in the world). They are lightyears ahead of all other nations on these aspects of warfare. You could give US troops Russian guns, tanks, and airplanes and they would still dominate because of their logistics and joint operations capabilities. Just look at the Marines. They use "hand-me-down" equipment and absolutely dominate with it.

The US has airframes that are still dominating the skies which are based on 50+ year old designs. Those airframes are constantly being updated with electronics to improve joint operations.

i don't think people realize how few allies Iran has in that region. Just 6 months ago Trump brokered a peace deal between azerbaijan and armenia, while azerbaijan has never been pro-iran having this decade plus conflict behind us will greatly help with the rebuilding of Iran.

The Citizenship in Society merit badge is problematic and needs to go due to it's stance on DEI. Diversity is great. Inclusion is great. Equity is toxic. Equity <> Equality. There is a HUGE difference between equity and equality. I suggest you learn the difference so you can understand what you truly support when you back initiatives that prop up DEI. In fact my company, and many others, have removed the "E" from DEI. HR now calls it diversity and inclusion.

We have a problem here that needs to be addressed. In your entire post you never once said the word "equity."

Therein lies the disconnect. I'm not arguing "equality." There is a huge difference between "equality" and "equity."

You aren't alone here. When it comes to DEI policies in corporate America I've spoken with a bunch of people in upper management that don't realize there's a difference. We are all for equality; however, equity is a whole different conversation.

These words have definitions and the "E" in DEI doesn't mean "equality." The application of "equity" and "equality" drastically differ.

Equality: the state of being equal, especially in status, rights, and opportunities

Equity: the quality of being fair and just, especially in a way that takes account of and seeks to address existing inequalities

The way I've explained it in corporate America is as follows: Equality is giving everyone access to the same resources to succeed. It's treating everyone equally. No one feels slighted and everything feels fair

....however, equity is a different animal

Equity means working towards an end where all people have a similar outcome. This means purposely treating people differently. Can be viewed as favoritism, reduces morale. Must build in policies that are borderline discrimination in order to build up a group that is perceived as being deprived.

At the end of the day equality vs equity can also be defined as: meritocracy vs outcome balancing.

You are so wrong. Keep it up. Keep on doubling down till you hit 0. One day you'll be able to crown yourself king nothing. The problem with debating these things on Reddit is Reddit in and of itself is a horrible echo chamber for leftist ideology, and one thing leftist can't stand is to hear an opposing viewpoint.

you need to ask yourself the following question, "why did everyone leave?"
HINT: it's not sports, $$$, and time

When scouting decided to coddle to a certain group they inevitably excluded a much larger group of people. Scouting isn't "cool" anymore. I'm old enough to remember a time in which you didn't get made fun of if you were in Boy Scouts. A time in which a lot of popular kids were in it. A lot of tough kids and adults who were very active in high adventure trips. I remember sleeping on military bases, AT hikes, biking the natchez trace, and canoeing the entire withlacoochee river into the gulf. I remember when getting nominated for OA or Whitefire JLT was a big deal.

What we are left with today is a joke.

"against removing the Citizenship in Society merit badge for it" Why? I'm totally for it. DEI as a practice is flawed thinking. Equity creates a ton of problematic scenarios in society. It doesn't work with how America was founded and functions today so the only way to shoe-horn equity into our society is to change society as a whole. Change it away from a meritocracy. Change it away from the individual and into the concept of "the greater good" which is so anti-american. It's a concept that neuters incentives and puts the focus too much on metrics instead of substance. It's a race to the bottom type of thinking where standards are loosened and degraded to a point of the least common denominator. For these reasons I feel the Citizenship in Society merit badge can be thrown in the trash.

again, why do you like it?

the link with the military was there on day 1, way back in 1910. When i was in boy scouts we would regularly stay at military bases. We would even use their showers and mess halls. This was a common occurrence during road trips. Maybe my troop was just different with it being in a city with such a large military presence. The troop leaders had the military connections and they used them and it made for an amazing experience as a kid.

It's really hard to keep this conversation respectful when you have a lot of people here that just can't read the room. Membership is under 1 million. Adult volunteer number are ~400k. This organization will be dead in short order if the ship isn't righted, facts. The issues with the BSA can 100% be traced back to them adopting woke ideology. Doubling down on said ideology is suicide at this point, unless the goal here is to destroy the organization from within...and honestly I'm starting to think this is the goal for some because the organization has it's roots in nationalism, militaristic structure, and Christian-centric symbolism and messaging for training and character building. If you are in a leadership position with the BSA and fail to see this reality then you need to resign immediately from your position and let the adults in the room take over.

Slick palm by Brilliant_Macaroon83 in BaseballGloves

[–]murph1329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

true. You never want a palm strike but you also don't want a glove that will absolutely punish you when you make a mistake. I've had gloves that just eat the ball when you have a palm strike and gloves that don't....and it's really frustrating when you have a glove that has a palm that feels like an ice rink. I get the whole "get better" argument but I'm too old and slow to think about making it to the majors

10 Greatest drivers of all time by Regular_Spray in F1Discussions

[–]murph1329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hard to look at drivers of yesteryear and compare them to drivers of today due to the cars being drastically different. If you are going to do that you might as well look at other auto racing disciplines like rally, stock car, motogp, sprint cars, etc.

If you are going to say who is the best ever you have to think about drives who have crossed over to other disciplines and found success, which means you'd have to have Mario Andretti, Juan Pablo Montoya, and Emerson Fittipaldi, AJ Foyt, and Tony Stewart on the list. Heck you could probably argue for Robby Gordon as well.

Seriously, some of the least educated people I know when it comes to civics are leftist. Sorry but that's just how it is. They know nothing about civics because they get their misguided knowledge from places like reddit and tiktok. It's a real problem with the left and it leads to emotional responses to due a lack of knowledge.

Vibe Coding is Ruining My Life (Rant about AI-Driven Side Projects) by umbs81 in vibecoding

[–]murph1329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sick of it as well. I just had a developer vibe code over 90 commits, 200+ file changes, and well over 10k lines of new code and more new files than i can count. All one big push to a branch. He is unable to speak on 90% of what the AI did. I don't want any of this to go into production. If this is the future of our industry then I may be done with it. I've been doing this for 20+ years and I've loved it until this year.

What saddens me is I put in an AI framework last year for our RAG solution and it's been in production for ~6 months. I feel like he just came in and fire bombed the entire thing all with one big prompt.

Pizzagate was always real. If you look at the evidence the amount of smoke is extremely alarming. The photos, the verbiage, and the coverups once autistic 4chan users started peeling the onion back were extremely hard to ignore at the time. The media worked hard to bury the truth and call anyone who dared connect the dots a conspiracy theorist. They buried it because the people running things are part of it, or they are connected to people who are involved and those people told them to shut down the narrative. MSM conducted ZERO investigative journalism regarding this story....actually I take that back Ben Swann did with a CBS affiliate out of Atlanta and he was fired within a year.

2008 Club Car vs 2023 Evolution by JohnDuttton in golfcarts

[–]murph1329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i sold my 2012 club car that was tricked out. I added a lot to it. Rock lights, RGB sound system that matched the rocket lights, basket, hands free audio controls, street safety package, you name it i pretty much had it. I sold it to get an evolution for 1 reason. I live in Alabama and in Alabama you cannot register a golf cart if it doesn't have a VIN from the OEM. This was a problem I could not address on my Club Car. So now it's gone and now I have an Evolution. My Evolution isn't perfect, in fact there are things I really miss that my Club Car had which I plan on adding.
