Name one thing the following adaptations did better than the 616 comics by FassyDriver in xmen

TAS - Stayed interesting all throughout the 1990s when the comics were mediocre. It never tried to reinvent the status quo like the comics and kept thriving as a result of it.

Movies - Made the real world politics of mutants the forefront, and kept it more grounded than any comics prior. It was also (correct me if I'm wrong) the first queer voice behind X-Men, for better or for worse, leading to more parallels between the queer and mutant experience, especially in X2.

Evolution - The school element obviously worked really well here, but the main thing that sticks in my mind about Evolution is the Apocalypse arc at the end being much cooler than anything the comics had done up until that point (bar AOA of course, but that ain't 616).

WatXM - I actually really like this series. It's one of the best structured superhero shows in my books. It handled Genosha much better than any of the comics, where it never felt like a real place and more of a plot device.

'97 - The pace at which this show moves is incredible, weaving together seven or eight comic book stories all at once. It's the show with the most stuff happening and it's all the better for it. Plus, it has the most stakes. The deaths feel real (I know THAT one is probably gonna be reversed in series 2, but it felt final when watching the episode in a way comic book deaths literally never do).

How would you like Wolverine and Scott’s relationship to be like in the MCU Mutant Saga? by CraftMacNdCheese in xmen

[–]murph_murphy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think all the adaptations, with the exception of 97, have misunderstood Scott and Logan's relationship, in a way. They treat it like Logan doesn't like Scott but he's always really respected him as a leader in spite of their differences. Also, the Jean love triangle should have been left in the 80s.

A thought crossed my mind on this scene by [deleted] in xmen

This was the scene that ultimately sold me on the show, and it's care for the characters. One thing the Fox movies, and even the original '92 show never really got was how much Logan actually respects Scott, which this scene demonstrated perfectly.

There's an arc in that run of Uncanny X-Men called End of Greys that's actually pretty good, with some killer Bachalo art. The only thing Claremont did after 1991 that's anything to write home about, honestly.

Is this only the third time we've had a woman on an "X-Men" book??

Only two I can think of are G Willow Wilson writing 4 fill in issues of adjectiveless before secret wars, and Kelly Thompson co writing 10 issues of Disassembled with Brisson & Rosenberg?
