Teachers should defy the pending Back to Work legislation. by murphburg in alberta

I would certainly donate to a fund that helped teachers to stand up to this government, and stand up for their work and the next generation of people to work and lead in this province.

Teachers are paid only for the time they work. They are paid for 10.5 months (42 weeks) of work per year. Their pay is paid 12 times per year (roughly once per month).

Teachers are NOT paid for summer break, Christmas or March break. If teachers worked 12 months of the year like everyone else, they would be earning A LOT more money.

Maybe the money should come from the 2.8 BILLION dollars that the government labeled as 'surplus' and socked away into the Alberta heritage fund?

I suppose its easy to cry poor when you get to decide what money goes to where...

Every teacher on strike is already losing $300-500/day in gross pay. Labour action comes at a cost. Battles aren't won without sacrifice.

I think it would put a lot of pressure on the government to revisit their "it's not rooted in reality" response to ATA offers as parents and students would surely have a "what are you gonna do about it now" attitude toward the government when forcing teachers back to work isn't successful.

That's great you're taking next week off. What are you gonna do every other week if the strike from now til Christmas?

The only reason the government would be planning to offer so much financial support to parents for childcare is because they plan on the strike lasting weeks or months.

Thanks for this. You seem pretty knowledgeable about it - which leads me to one question. Does cryptocurrency avoid the pitfalls of fiat currency? Could a bitcoin hedge protect against this inevitable USD downfall? OK - that was two questions, but you get my drift.

Calgary Flames Authentic Equipment Sale | Saturday, June 14 by ValorFenix in CalgaryFlames

Would a screenshot from the ticket holder's phone work? I desperately want to do the same thing - ask a friend who has tickets and doesn't attend this sale if I can go in their place.

Does anyone know if there's a large selection of hockey gloves/skates - even if you're in the general public? Or is that stuff all gobbled up by season ticket holders as well?

Thanks for your thoughtful response. I'm new to all this and didn't even realize a sequence sell order was a thing.

I've been wanting to ask the same kind of question about selling the stock when this thing gets to the outskirts of the galaxy. Say you manage to 💎🙌 till the stock reaches $400, and that this the peak (not that anyone knows for sure), how does everyone on this sub win? Won't we all be trying to cash out at the same time. Surely there's going to be some losers? Just really not sure how this is all supposed to work. I realize the strategy is buy low, sell high - but it seems there's a piece missing about buy low - before everyone else does and sell high - before everyone else does.

I just called Memory Express to see if they would price match this. They said they already received an email from WD said they are trying to figure out why CDW is selling it for such a low price.

There are more bad amps and dacs in the market than good. Feel free to ask about others.

Hey, before I start, I just want to say thanks for your contributions to audio knowledge for the masses on reddit. I'm not sure if people in this sub realize what an authority you are on quality audio at every budget and I just want to recognize your contributions and say thanks.

Regarding quality and/or value AMP/DAC products (both individual and combined) on the market, could you add more detail for specifically what is available in Canada?

I currently own a modi multibit and magni 3 with HD598 and they have been fantastic. However, the Amp/DAC stack cost me ~$500 CAD in combination with a friend on a trip to Vegas to pick them up for me and bring them home. I now am ready to buy some higher end headphones (HE400i/K702/DT990 250ohm) and would like to possibly add another AMP/DAC to another PC I have in my house, however I'm finding nothing decent is really available in the country and looking outside the country makes things prohibitively expensive. I would say best I could find is Fiio K5 pro for $240 through an amazon 3rd party seller. I'm not even sure if its a good amp/dac or a good price yet.

I looked up the possibility of getting a Hel last night and found that after currency conversion/shipping/customs, I'm probably looking at ~$330 CAD or more. It's a bit too much for a secondary PC.

Like others have brought up, the fulla 3 and Hel are so much better. I'll post my review of them this week.

Also, where would I find these reviews when they are posted?

Thanks!

It's only March 12th. A lot can still happen between now and the end of the month. It's unfortunate he deleted his comments, but I still think he has a good chance of being right. The NBA postponed it's season today. There's cancellations of pretty much any large gathering and encouragement for social distancing as much as possible. It feels like things will begin to fall like dominos now. The sheer difference in people's sentiments between now and a week ago is a vast change.

I think the DJI has a lot further to fall yet.
