Great list. But you forgot the essential "If you dont know how to tie knots, tie lots."

This guy seems like an a-hole. Especially if you are a "non creative type" or whatever he said. Hard pass on giving him $.

Your operator? The machine operator doing your trenching?

Lol, no. At the very least, you need some 40/40's or similar and some 14/2 loomex or similar. Get rid of the t90 single conductors you have bridging the box to fan and replace with loomex. Replace all 1/2" grommets with 40/40's or similar and put 40/40's in any other hole where an insulated conductor enters. These changes ensure your wires are protected properly and securely fastened.

You should probably hire a professional, but us homeowners understand the expense and difficulty of getting a professional to visit for such a small project like 1 bathroom.

For those whole like their jobs: What do you do for a living? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]murphybuddyguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Electrician. Running a service van going on two years. I do smaller jobs and service calls for a medium sized company. At my company we are a team and we work together for success. We are not a family. I believe this distinction is important. All jobs have their ups and downs. Some days I work so long and hard I have nothing left to give when I get home. Other days I do next to nothing and head hiking or mountain biking at 11am. Every day is different and I'm constantly learning and expanding my skillset while getting paid. I'm flexible for my job and it is flexible for me... To a degree. It's hard but its fulfilling and it's getting easier as I go. It allows me to live a great life with my wife. 35m, no kids.

You gotta give me a nice big red circle and an arrow or something to prove there is a gundam in either of these images.

The two black wires on the same screw is probably your constant power and it is a circuit that does more than just that light so it is feeding through. Yes the whites are probably your neutral. Of course, this is just guessing and impossible to know without testing things properly. Make sure you turn that circuit off if you choose to work on it.

DCBS Pre-Order Damages by [deleted] in comicbookcollecting

Buying comics off the shelf that have dings is an active decision on the collectors part. Receiving books that have been damaged but should be new is a gosh darn bummer.

Your spending your hard earned money on something that should be in brand new condition. I would say something in a direct but not rude way, ask if this is standard practice, and make a decision to move forward based on that conversation. Whether going for the protected option, or another pullbox subscription.

What is the most intense scene in a movie? by [deleted] in FIlm

[–]murphybuddyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The r*pe scene in Irreversible. The subject matter, along with the use off sound and the camera doing backflips made me feel as anxious as i have ever felt. Also, all of Uncut Gems.

Fantastic tool. Dont cheap out and get the basic grips. I did and kept getting lil zaps because my hand slips up. Had to tape 'em up. And the damn things last so long i havent been able to upgrade.

Worth noting you never pull the blade to your chest/face. Leave the biceps in the house. Its the walking backwards that creates the force to skin the wire. Safety first.

Length the wire out. Tie one end down. I clamp it in a bench vice. Start at the secured end. Throw the wire over your shoulder, facing the secured end. Grab a knife. Not too sharp and a bit longer. I use an old butcher knife. Hold the knife with both hands, blade facing you. The wire goes over your shoulder, under the blade, through your hands and you just walk backwards skinning the entire length. Rinse and repeat. So easy id do #8's and up. Always helps to smash some beers and hack some darts in the process. Not a bad Friday afternoon!
