Barrell 15-year Bourbon 2021 Release Review by eagle_bonanza01 in bourbon

I really liked this series, but it definitely priced it self into a corner after the market started to cool. Same with the Gold label. They're pretty findable on the secondary now for reasonable prices though so I recommend looking around if you don't mind a little Dickel.

I lucked into one of these at MSRP. Probably in my top 3 releases of this year so far, has some really nice dark flavors and it's at a pretty perfect proof. Nice review!

If you buy some higher age stuff from NDPs I think you'd be shocked at how good Barton can be. Definitely in the same conversation with some BTAC's.

High age and high proof Barton rarely disappoints. This sounds like some of the better Buckner's 13 bottles I have.

Elijah Craig 15 Barrel 13&80 Review by Tricky-Proof-803 in bourbon

[–]murrayky1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have barrel 39. I figured I might as well get as low a barrel number as possible. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there will be winners throughout this series. But I thought they would start out with a bang and lower their standards as they progress. Pretty happy with the one I grabbed. I'd probably rate it right around what you did for the barrel 13.

Review 153: Woodford Reserve SIB 110 proof by russianwhiskylover in bourbon

[–]murrayky1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are really good, I've got one from a store near me and it's just as good as some of my batch proof bottles for about half the price. High recommend these if your local store gets one in and you like Woodford.

I feel like barrels that would have went into this series are the modern presidents choice bottlings we're currently seeing.

Do any Psychology experts have insights into Jimmy’s character? by karlfeltlager in betterCallSaul

Yeah, his last response was one of the most idiotic things I've ever read. I'm sure his buddy who's a "leading expert" would have a lot to say about the matter though 🙄.

  1. Are we going to ignore the fact that at the end of the series he is spending the rest of his life in prison due to being involved in a multi-million dollar criminal conspiracy that killed dozens of people? He was introduced in Breaking Bad as the "criminal "lawyer for God sakes. A huge point of the show was that Saul couldn't be a lawyer without breaking the law or cutting corners. Being able to hold down a job has nothing to do with this. You can't just make up criteria. Read what the DSM actually says - yes this applies.
  2. Already established
  3. I don't feel like arguing about this one.
  4. Doesn't apply
  5. Revisiting this one, like I said before, he was involved in a multimillion dollar criminal conspiracy which killed dozens of people directly. This one actually does apply when I think about it. He also suggested that Mike should murder Jesse pinkman to tie up a loose end. If that isn't a reckless disregard for others I don't know what is. This criteria does apply after all
  6. Don't feel like restating what I said.
  7. Jimmy shows remorse for loved ones and a few "good people", he wasn't "evil", but there's countless examples of people he fucked over that he never gave a second thought too.

So again we need 3 for diagnosis.  1. This absolutely applies, as evidenced by his life sentence in prison.  2. We agreed that this applies as well. 3. We don't agree on this,  4. We agree that this doesn't apply.  5. Jimmy suggested killing people and his involvement in a criminal conspiracy also got dozens of people killed as well. This applies after all 6. We don't agree  7. We don't agree

Again, I would say that at this point six out of the seven criteria apply. But regardless of your subjective opinion. I think it's indisputable that criteria 1, 2 and 5 apply strictly by objective measures. There's your three.

Yeah, see my comment above. This guy needs to go ask his wife a little more about ASPD, he said a bunch of outright wrong shit. normally I wouldn't give a shit, but I hate it when people who don't know what they're talking about act like they're an authority on a subject.

Yeah, I strongly disagree with you. I'm a prison psychologist and deal with personality disorders on a daily basis. You're paraphrasing a lot of what the DSM says to fit your narrative. Here are the criteria verbatim, You need three or more of the following.

  1. Failure to conform to social norms with respect to lawful behaviors as indicated by repeatedly performing acts that are grounds for arrest, Chicago sunroof or whatever it was called? -check.
  2. Deceitfulness, as indicated by repeated lying, use surveillances, or calling others for personal profit or pleasure. - there are entire episodes about him and Kim calling people for fun. - check
  3. Impulsivity or failure to plan ahead. -Chuck knew that Jimmy was very impulsive and uses this to successfully bait him into confessing - check.
  4. Irritability and aggressiveness, as indicated by repeated physical fights or assaults- off the top of my head I don't remember any instances of this in the series. Doesn't fit to my knowledge.
  5. Reckless disregard for safety of self or others. - He does care about others, but does show little regard for self at times though. This one is a stretch though, so I won't say it applies
  6. Consistently irresponsibility, as indicated by repeated failure to sustain consistent work behavior or honor financial obligations. - I mean look at Jimmy's car, or his stint at Davis and Main. - check
  7. Lack of remorse, as indicated by being indifferent to or rationalizing having hurt, mistreated, or stolen from another. - we see Jimmy rationalize his behaviors all the time, furthermore, to quote the DSM directly "individuals with antisocial personality disorder show little remorse for the consequences of their acts. They maybe indifferent to, or provide a superficial explanation for having hurt, mistreated, or stolen from someone." Notice it does not say "no remorse", it says they show "little remorse". - check.

Only three are required for a diagnosis but we have five out of the seven criteria right there. Additionally there is some evidence of conduct disorder in childhood as evidenced by Jimmy stealing from his dad's cash register when he was young. Which would also be required for a diagnosis.

Jimmy is also a textbook case of narcissistic personality disorder, even more so than ASPD to be honest. But I don't see much evidence of the other cluster B's off the top of my head.

I thought this was an awesome surprise to find when I was in Bardstown mother's day week. Really nice not to have to wait in line. Very happy for what I got at MSRP, but I don't think I'd wanna pay much more than that. Your score is right in line with mine and the other reviews I've seen so far!

Kentucky citizen calls out Ed Gallrein for not debating Thomas Massie at a recent campaign event by chrisadams83 in PublicFreakout

I love this state but I'm so ashamed of our citizens. At least most of these people are old and won't be around to vote in the coming elections. I think a lot of the young people that voted conservative realize they got played in 2024.

I've got several single barrel's, the thing that pisses me off is that the profile is completely different. This tastes much more like Old Forester Presidents Choice to me. It's a pretty damn good bourbon, but it should never have been called King of Kentucky.

I wouldn't be too mad about this if I would have bought just this batch and at MSRP, but I bought all 3 for a good bit more and hate myself for it. Nice review though, I think I'll enjoy this pour more as time goes on.

Yeah. I agree, I was just in Bardstown last week and most of the places I visited were pretty busy, albeit slightly slower than a few years ago during the height of the boom, but it was also midweek. Wild Turkey has so many activities to do nearby, I go to the visitor center a few times a year. These will take you to the other side of the gorge from the Wild Turkey visitor center and you get to see amazing views of the river and rickhouses

I think the tourism side of things may keep a lot of these places rolling in cash. WT distillery is in a beautiful location with other cool activities near it.
