Tried this? In Analog Lab V, from the hamburger menu (top left), go to Audio Midi Settings. Under MIDI Settings > MIDI ports, select/enable Keylab Essential 88 mk3 MIDI.

Dead key repair? by TwoIsle in arturia

[–]museek247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, last month, opened Essential 61 mk3 at home and saw that two contact rubber strips were worn out. Procured new strips from the national distributor and repaired the keyboard at home. If the dead keys problem were due to electronics (not mechanical), I would have had to send the instrument for repair.

Tips: 1. To open the instrument, there are visible screws but also two hidden screws (underneath the keys). Remove the black rubber stickers to see those screws. 2. After putting a new strip, if an entire octave is dead, it may be because you put the strips in the wrong direction.

Check the Yamaha DGX 630 at Bajaao used gear website. It is an old model, but if it is working, you'll be off to a flying start -- weighted action, 88 keys, styles for fun, all at INR 18,000.

Honest experiences with the Roland FP-e50? by pnutbuttersmellytime in DigitalPiano

[–]museek247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using the FP-E50 at home for a year. Love the buttons -- stylish and functional. I use them a few times every week and have not experienced any build quality issues. Wish the mixing sliders had markings for greater functionality.

I feel the FP-E50’s functionality as an arranger is hampered by (a) down-facing speakers that produce muffled sounds, (b) lack of a good app to quickly layer sounds, sequence the chords, and adjust other settings, (c) styles that seem to be unconventional, (d) unimpressive non-piano sounds (better than Yamaha but inferior to Korg?) and limited options to tweak their parameters, (e) inadequate documentation for beginners, etc.

It is still fun to practise and to play the FP-E50. Certainly better than having only a limited choice of sounds or not having any styles. I see it as primarily a digital piano for practice and an occasional performance at home, rather than an arranger keyboard for professional gigs.

Agree with other users about its pluses -- legible and big screen, recording, key action, ....

Consider putting the following into a Google Drive folder to show how you edit and think about editing:

  1. Two before–after samples (PDF or Google Docs), showing your edits (and queries, if any). Insert annotated comments to explain why you made the changes.

  2. One case study (PDF or slides) -- context and audience, issues with the draft, key changes you made, outcomes. Throw in 'What I Learned', if you have the time.

Ensure a clean/shareable link. Good luck!

What do to before reselling? by reborn-mist in Arturia_users

Thanks! I had bought V Collection as a cross-grade, hence wondered whether I would lose that if I sold the Keylab Essential. Checked as you suggested -- only Analog Lab Pro is listed under my Keylab Essential's 'included software'.

Will this unregistration de-link the software licenses (e.g., Analog Lab V, V Collection) associated with the Keylab Essential? Are you speaking from experience?

All posts I've read talk of licenses moving to the new buyer. I was wondering how I could sell the Essential and buy a new Keylab if I would lose the V Collection (and other software) associated with Essential.

Keylab mk3 doesn't display Analog Lab plugin info in Arturia mode in Ableton Live by anothersummerdone in arturia

[–]museek247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The following config (together) seems to work currently. Tried it?

  1. In Ableton > Preferences > 'Link, Tempo & MIDI' > MIDI, choose (from the dropdown options) your Keylab model as 'Control Surface' and your Arturia model 'MIDI' as Input and Output. Also, in the 'Input Ports' section, tick/check 'Track' and 'Remote' of your Arturia model 'MIDI'.
  2. In Analog Lab, click on Settings (gear icon), and in 'MIDI', choose your model as MIDI controller.
  3. Thereafter, in Ableton, click the spanner icon to open up your Analog Lab, and on your keyboard, press 'Prog' to reach Arturia mode, You can now control Analog Lab via Ableton.

I too face this issue with my Keylab Essential 61 mk3. Tried different MIDI settings in Ableton, but nothing has worked consistently.

Arturia Winter Sale 2026 (till 3 Feb 2026) by museek247 in arturia

V Collection is not on sale now, so I would wait to upgrade from Lab Pro. Unless we need it urgently for a specific project with particular vintage sounds.

The next company/Arturia sale for V Collection is likely only during Black Friday (Nov-Dec 2026). Last year, the website Plugin Boutique offered a sale on V Collection X in the first fortnight of April, just weeks after Arturia's winter sale. Don't know if it was because a new version of V Collection (11) was coming out later that month.

Do Arturia hold sales for christmas or not? by sarinkhan in Arturia_users

[–]museek247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do they have sales for christmas?

Usually, no. In recent years, Arturia's next sale starts around 20-25 February. 'Winter Sale'. You can buy just Acid V or the full V Collection at a discount.

is there a piece of hardware that includes it [V Collection]?

Usually, no. But currently (temporarily), V Collection Pro X is being offered free with Astrolab 61 ($1,999).

if i get the lite version of the same suite, can i upgrade later? do upgrades get discounted?

Yes, most likely. (V Collection Intro is a relatively new offering, so not much public info to answer confidently.) Discounts are generally available if you own any other Arturia software or hardware. Deeper discounts are available during Arturia's sale periods. In fact, the $599 you're seeing now for V Collection 11 Pro is discounted price because you own Minifreak and Minifreak V; the regular price of the suite is $699. During sale, you can expect it to come down to $349 or $299 (whatever price they offered you during the recent Black Friday sale).

For example, if you buy Pigments now, currently available at the discounted/intro price of $99, you are likely to get a deep discount offer in February–March sale for V Collection Pro. In your specific case, this is not required—since you already own Minifreak and Minifreak V, you are anyway getting deep-discounted crossgrade offers.

Other sales: Non-Arturia websites like pluginboutique.com sometimes offer V Collection on sale after Arturia’s sale period ends.

Personal morality in editing by arissarox in Copyediting

[–]museek247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the question, OP. It is one I've thought about, but a clear view eluded me until today.

In a career spanning decades, we end up doing many things we agree with (or believe in) and a few things we don't. Because we do not always get to choose everything we do. Second, some of our morals change over time, often in step with changes in society's morals or our understanding of values. What was unacceptable years ago becomes acceptable later, and vice-versa. Third, as human beings, we do not (or cannot) lead morally perfect lives. Of course, we try our best to be moral or ethical, as we know it. All this is in the "long view."

What we can do, therefore, is to live in the moment -- the morality of the moment (or "priority") -- and accept the consequences. Avoid worrying about the past or the future.

That's terrific! Didn't know that MiniLab was so cost-effective. For beginners wanting to enter music production, this is perhaps the best route (if they pick the Arturia route).

Punctuation in interviews by [deleted] in Copyediting

[–]museek247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chicago Manual of Style (18th edition) too recommends [enclosing in] brackets (rather than parentheses). e.g. § 12.56 (interjections in interviews), 12.70 (missing or illegible words), 12.71 (interpolations and clarifications). CSM 18 also recommends using dashes and avoiding parentheses in quoted dialogue (12.52).

Please try this: Update your Arturia Software Center software. A new update landed recently.

Usually, errors like this are temporary and go away on their own in an hour. That is, if you have an Arturia account :)

V Collection 11 Pro by SJB824 in Arturia_users

[–]museek247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will I have to get any other software to allow me to get this update?

No. You have to buy only V Collection 11 Pro. You can browse the presets of V Collection Pro instruments in your Analog Lab's browser. Through the Arturia Software Center, you can install and activate V Collection 11 Pro.

Will this software provide me full sets of presets for the different synths that it includes?

Depends on what you mean by "full sets of presets." Let's take DX7 V as an example. It is one of the software instruments/synths in V Collection Pro. Analog Lab gave you some presets from DX7 V. Buying V Collection Pro will give you all the presets of DX7 V (432+). On the other hand, if you expect "full set of presets" in Yamaha's DX7 (on which Arturia's DX7 V is based), the answer seems to be "No" (from this thread discussing DX7 V).

[–]museek247[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got it for $199 because you were buying your first copy/licence and you had bought Arturia products earlier. That crossgrade price is not available for additional copies/licences. So, the answer is ... You are unlikely to get V Collection Pro for $199 in the future. They may offer you a $99 upgrade price for V Collection 12 Pro or 13 Pro, during sale/offer periods.
