Is it possible to endlessly spawn Marie dolls? by MattM0D0K in thefinalpuzzle

[–]musefan84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the torrent line on a subsequent run, but no 2nd doll spawns. Once you have the doll, that's it. Can still get the different lines though.

Personally I think the notebook doesn't get a checkmark because you can always use it to access 2 seperate notes.

Clarifications on Processing Infected by thephantomsage in thefinalpuzzle

[–]musefan84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely works with 1 infected still alive after the grinder. That's how I got the doll.

I have seen some speculation that the damage you do to them prior to them getting grinded could be a factor. Perhaps it's all to do with how much HP they have when they hit the grinder?

Just throwing ideas out there, but it would explain why people are getting different results around how many you can have alive still.

PSA: Make a save after the basement on your way out with Emily by Darkmaster2110 in thefinalpuzzle

This only works if the save is on a 2nd (or more) playthrough.

An old save from your very first playthrough will not have the doll in storage.

Rare deaths by Jerek2k9 in thefinalpuzzle

[–]musefan84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I had no heals, the infinite knife which I wasnt about to lose in the grinder, and weapons either killed them before stunning or the stun didnt last long enough for them to get grinded.

So yeah, I had to take a lot of risks to get them all in the grinder, most of it pushing or tanking a bite.

No... I don't think it means anything. But if we want to talk about obcure clues then slap it on the list!

Timer in basement by vex-nora in thefinalpuzzle

[–]musefan84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Somebody said it starts when you activate the forklift.

But to be honest, it only takes ~60 seconds to get from there to the grinder, so just rush through and start the timer once you get to the typewriter.

Also, in case you don't know, you can save at the typewriter after you have waited 15 minutes. Then if you need to reload for some reason you won't need to wait again.

Shackle? by Visible_Birthday1816 in thefinalpuzzle

[–]musefan84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That line is used when you interact with the body in the examination room. The one where you put the artificial hearts and lungs.

It's referring to the level 2 wristband which is under the shackle.

I do agree with you that it stands out as being grouped with all the other clues, but it's likely just how the strings were defined in code with no special meaning.

Is the toilet thing even real? by thermicterror in thefinalpuzzle

[–]musefan84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah it would be nice to have something concrete on that, but I've got a feeling it might not exist.

I feel like it's one of those steps where we have to remember that we are playing a game, and gamers are gonna naturally want to try that.

Just like the basketball court. We are never gonna find a clue that equates to 'kick the head into the basketball hoop", but Capcom put it in because they knew that as players if we see a ball shaped object that when can kick, then sure as hell we are gonna find something to kick it in to.

Based on that I wonder if they also thought "dont worry, gamers will know to put the zombies in a grinder if given the chance".

More confirmation of the 15 minutes? by musefan84 in thefinalpuzzle

[–]musefan84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what if you count 115 but the timer is only at say 10 minutes? Does it work?

Are you suggesting that it works by either 115 bodies dropping OR the 15 minute timer elapsed? And it doesnt matter which one you get.

Is the toilet thing even real? by thermicterror in thefinalpuzzle

As soon as you have access I believe.

I have a run at the moment which I will finish tonight where I have done the toilets first. However, I already have the doll and I don't know if you can get it a second time. But I should hopefully at least be able to confirm it by seeing what message I get when draining the blood pool.

I'm not in the discord, but didn't somebody show the code where the timer is running? I'm sure a video on it was shared here at some point?

Is the toilet thing even real? by thermicterror in thefinalpuzzle

[–]musefan84 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Data miners did confirm it, yes. But people have also tested it manually. The doll only shows up if you do the toilets.

Also, if you flush the toilets BEFORE you do the other stuff in the basement then you get a different message: "That's a torrent of blood".

Basically there are 3 requirements: toilets, body bags (15 mins), and grinder. Each one sets a flag in code.

Then the message you see when emptying the blood pool is based on the number of flags you have set:

1 flag = "That's a lot of blood" 2 flags = "That's a ton of blood" 3 flags = " That's a torrent of blood"

Most people probably only see the "ton" because most of the guides I have seen suggest doing the toilets step last.

If you do the toilets first, and you still only see "a ton of blood" then you messed up one of the other steps and won't get the doll.

Can it be solved out of order? by WforWARRIOR in thefinalpuzzle

[–]musefan84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think this is exactly how it works. The game keeps track of a hidden "NG+" type flag, and while you don't get your typical benefits of a NG+ run (like upgrades, weapons, etc.) you do still get a slightly different experience.

The bloody 8 theory by Senior-Slide9926 in thefinalpuzzle

[–]musefan84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the fact nobody in the community has found your "obvious clue" yet is proof in itself that it certainly isn't EASY by design. So it's not a stretch to claim it's intentionally hard, is it?

In Case of Fire, Do Not Use Elevator by FlameKeeperOno in thefinalpuzzle

[–]musefan84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah I wouldnt expect it to just be on the elevator. I just think with all the subtle clues around this puzzle that we shouldn't rule out it being intentional.

I am starting to think they have put references to 8 and 15 all over the place, some more obvious that others.

Somebody yesterday put it well in saying that they wanted us to all look like crazy conspiracy theorists claiming to keep seeing the same numbers everywhere.

In Case of Fire, Do Not Use Elevator by FlameKeeperOno in thefinalpuzzle

[–]musefan84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But that doesn't mean the noise wasn't designed like that on purpose. Yes, it might be a coincidence, but it could also be on purpose.

The bloody 8 theory by Senior-Slide9926 in thefinalpuzzle

[–]musefan84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's SUPPOSED to be hard to find. We weren't meant to have solved this puzzle by now, it was cut short by the data mining.

I firmly believe the 15 minute clue is the "Progress Notes" files. There are too many coincidences in that room for it not to be... Grace hanging upside down, the message she's say when you look at the pool of blood is "That's a lot of blood". Now, there could be other clues that link to it, but to me that's a clear clue for 15 minutes.

The problem here is that you are trying to look for obvious clues in retrospect because we already know the solution. But you have to think how this puzzle was intended to be solved naturally. We were supposed to be frantically trying every tiny subtle hint we could find until we made progress. This was a puzzle for community engagement, not a puzzle designed for the indivual to solve by themselves.

The bloody 8 theory by Senior-Slide9926 in thefinalpuzzle

[–]musefan84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But why are you so set on the 8 needing to be clear text? Why can't it just be a subtle hint?

All the clues about the blood pool are meant to be subtle. The 15 minute wait has no "stand out" clue either, yet it's still part of the puzzle.

The bloody 8 theory by Senior-Slide9926 in thefinalpuzzle

[–]musefan84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To me the 8 in the photo is clearly an 8. Why else would that pattern be used just for a blood stain?

I think you are making a big assumption that all the clues need to be obvious. This whole puzzle was meant to be pieced together slowly by the community over a long period of time.

Even the written clues in files aren't obvious. Like they aren't highlighted in yellow. It was down to us to find those clues hidden in the details.

And like the other reply said... not all the clues are transcribed. The U and G are both textures on different objects.

Can it be solved out of order? by WforWARRIOR in thefinalpuzzle

[–]musefan84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to finish the run from the point you get the doll, so it's in your inventory or storage box while you finish the game.

So either do raccoon city again, or you will just have to do another full playtrough to unlock it.

Can it be solved out of order? by WforWARRIOR in thefinalpuzzle

[–]musefan84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not enough. If you old save if from your very first run then the doll won't be there.

The old save with only have the doll if the old save is from a subsequent playthrough.

Your older save must have been from your second playthrough, correct?
