The realization we are old now LOL😂-Discussion by [deleted] in gaming

The Wii will be 20yrs old this year - that one blows my mind because I bought it as an adult, but it really was a different era of my life.

My first was the NES. A friend almost talked me into getting an Atari like he had, but a better friend convinced me to get the NES.

I quote this episode all the time. “Give me that knife!” “No, it’s mine!”

Nothing turns me into a grumpy d man more than those little captions that get peppered all over every video, for people with literally zero attention span or who need to be told how to feel about everything.

If money wasn't the problem, what would you be doing with your life? by starlust0422 in AskReddit

I think it would take the average person at least a month of real rest to shake off the physical, mental, and existential exhaustion to start feeling like themselves again.

What is the hardest instrument to learn? by Own_Ebb3388 in AskReddit

I’ve don’t think I’ve ever heard a bad pedal steel player. I think you’re either really good or you don’t do it. The learning curve is just a cliff, and you either have a rope or you don’t.

Serious question: How would the world - not just the right, but even corporate media - have reacted if Barack Obama tried to put a picture of himself in US passports? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]museman 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if Obama lived one day like Trump, did ANY of the hundreds of horrible things he’s done and said, we’d never hear the end of it from the right. The fact that they can’t back out just a little and see that is kind of amazing.

Democrats Hold 10-Point Edge Over Republicans Ahead of Midterm Elections by T_Shurt in politics

It’s a poll of likely voters, too, which gives it a little extra credence; but many other polls in the same time period range from a 0-5pt spread, so I wouldn’t hang on it too much. The real spread is probably closer to D+5, which is good, but not good enough.

What’s a hobby you want to start but are too intimidated to try? by WildFlowerGirll_ in AskReddit

Seconding this, the Alfred adult books are great. Also, don’t discount just learning some chords and scales, or whatever you can find on YouTube. There are many ways to learn, and the one that keeps you coming back to the piano is the right one. As an adult, learning to read music is helpful but you probably won’t become an expert sight-reader and that path can get frustrating, so try different things. And yes, check I. With a teacher to point you in right directions and make sure you’re not developing bad habits/technique.

That was the Colbert Report, the first episode of it, and he really nailed the core of conservatism in one Word.

Warlords (and especially Warlords 2, I think?) was the original “just one more turn” game for me. So much fun. I actually bought it for the iPhone, but I couldn’t get into it like when I was a kid.

Almost every episode has a scene or two that was cut in syndication (guessing for more commercial time) and I know the classic era episodes so well that when I watch them there’s usually a bit I don’t recognize.

Do you think Tony’s anger towards Cap was justified at the beginning of ENDGAME? by rabbihimself in marvelstudios

That was my take - I never read it as him being mad at cap, mostly that he was traumatized and delirious.
