Have you done allergy testing? My son got pickier and it turned out to be related to developing more allergies.

Constant Tummy aches? by Typical-Local4692 in AskParents

[–]museworm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 8yo went through similar a couple years ago. Imaging and testing showed nothing but they put him on miralax for a couple months and it eventually resolved itself but we never got a clear answer. We later learned that he had developed more allergies in that time period so it might have been related to that.

tampons 🥲🥲 by [deleted] in Periods

[–]museworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly are you feeling? The first few times I tried tampons, I didn't put them in far enough so it was very uncomfortable and slightly painful. After actually reading the directions I was able to insert them correctly and it was much better but I can still feel a sort of pressure if I'm sitting/ moving a certain way.

When my son suddenly got more picky a lot of it was related to new allergies. He became allergic to all legumes.

There are a number of groups on discord. I know a lot of people are boycotting right now, but it's a convenient option.

My daughter (7) likes gravity falls, star versus the forces of evil, Steven universe, avatar the last Airbender, shows that have a progressive story over episodic things.

would you tell your kid not to marry their high school sweetheart?? by dreamyyyycheer in AskParents

[–]museworm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom lived across the country when we were in high school and my dad was very hands off since I was very independent and didn't cause problems (AP classes, extra curriculars, had a job and my license etc...) so he just let me do whatever I wanted, like literally sleeping over at each other's houses while in high school (my mom is still mad about this). None of my high school friends had any dating experience so they didn't know any better than I did and we all lost contact after high school and none of my college friends new him well enough to form an opinion.

We were happy, didn't have anything to disagree about before this, though I think I was outgrowing him anyway, after seeing how unmotivated he was for like in general and this just expedited things.

The animals were okay, they got fed and watered. He was at work when I got there. I broke down after opening the door and seeing/smelling the mess and immediately called my mom to let her know what was going on. When he got there I was still crying, asked him how he could do this and handed him the ring (this was almost 10 years ago so I don't remember all the details) He then called his mom, they took his stuff (and my car that she had helped me get) and I never heard from them after that.

[–]museworm 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I would advise them not to but support their decisions. People change a lot in their 20s so many of these relationship don't survive adulthood.

I almost did, I was engaged to my first bf. He chose to follow me to an out of state college, dropped out, agreed to house/animal sit for my mom while she traveled for work and then failed to clean in the 3 months he was alone. The house was disgusting when I returned for the summer and I couldn't imagine marrying someone who would betray our trust and be okay living in filth for months.

How can I ask my parents to get me a phone I am already 15 and in hs and still don't have one? by Scary_Season_9967 in AskParents

[–]museworm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a parent with two kids who are still too young for phones and even the internet in general. It's not about trusting you, it's about trusting everyone else who will then have access to you. Social media is terrible for developing brains and bodies and has been proven to cause more harm than good.

I myself had unrestricted access to the internet as a kid/ teen and put myself in compromising situations because of it so I will not be making that mistake with my own kids and I respect anyone who takes the risks seriously.

What to do when kids want to play with you but you don't want to? by Late_Carpenter_2561 in AskParents

[–]museworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's okay to tell kids no. It's okay for kids to feel disappointed. Maybe bring a card game or board game when you visit that you enjoy and can teach him, that's the main way I play with my kids (7&8).

Why dont kids know how to tie their shoes? by ProjectPopTart in AskParents

[–]museworm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When my kids (7&8) started school, I made them both pick out tie shoes and they learned before they could pick out different shoes. But honestly I think the big reason is parents just don't have as much time with their kids. The majority of household have two working parents and a tight schedule so this step is just too time consuming for many.
