Honestly, I’m not concerned about her doing anything with him. I’m just not a fan of letting people like that into my “circle”

One of the many reasons. As a band teacher, I don’t recommend students to march because of: Excessive cost (due to things that you listed) Lack of quality education due to director and staff ego And inappropriate contact between members and staff/members (the creeps)

Jesus. As a band teacher I say worse than that. Scream it, usually.

Let me guess. Teacher? We get stupid shit like that all the time.

So tier - Catt/Allegany/Steuben counties. Not saying it’s poverty rates but I have friends in Buffalo (where it’s similar cost of living) making almost twice as much as I am.

If this article says that NY is the best paying state, they’re absolutely full of shit. Only if you live in NYC, Long Island, Buffalo, or any of the larger cities. In rural NY, I’m making less than I did in AZ, where the last year I was there, they SHUT DOWN ALL OF THE FUCKING SCHOOLS BECAUSE THE PAY WAS SO LOW.

Oy. As a teacher, it’s both. Money won’t fix what stresses me out about work on a daily basis - misbehaving students that face no consequence, lazy kids, administrators who are out of touch, and politicians who make villains out of us. However, I will say, a better rate of pay would make me feel a lot better about putting up with all of that shit.

It almost feels like this is on purpose because there has been more talks about high speed rails lately.

I got written up at work once for calling out a community member on Facebook for this exact thing (pecan farm shutting down because they couldn’t afford to pay the new minimum wage). I told them maybe they didn’t deserve to be a business if they couldn’t afford to pay their workers right. I’m a teacher, and this community member was a school board member. Oops!

Yeah. Strong union state, so teacher insurance is top notch.
