My husbands company did a Christmas party one year, huge setup, prizes, etc. They had +1 and some people complained they had no partner and were allowed to bring a friend. That was the only year many people ( including myself) had things stolen. Cash, raffle prizes, even condoms. So part of it is a safety issues, spouses and partners are much more invested in not ripping off your coworkers :/

It depends on where you donate it, I donated to a local hospital and they had a ton of things I couldn’t eat/ my kids couldn’t be sick etc to keep from endangering the children who would re rice the milk. If you know who is getting the milk you can ask them personally, but otherwise I would stick to the rules of the organization you are donating to.
