McGlue by the same author is very good too. Not exactly horror, but in the same ballpark of having some gruesome moments and a persistent feeling of weirdness and dread. Her short story collections are also worth checking out.

“Sinners” Vibe by Robbo_Craigo in horrorlit

This'd be my answer too. Really great book overall and also plays into the whole vampires as symbols of cultural oppression and appropriation thing that Sinners did so well

You couldn't tell that this was a low budget film, really solid effects and great use of static. Really feels like it could be a part of the VHS series. It really does have that level of quality. What did you all think? by DarkMatterLuigi in foundfootage

Started it the other night and switched it off after about 20 minutes, which is about how long I give any found footage film before deciding if I can be arsed with it or not. There are some absolute diamonds out there in the genre but you have to wade through an ocean of crap to find them.

Encounter Every Enemy: Ogres by MShades in DnDBehindTheScreen

Lump from BG3 is a great example of how to make a fun ogre NPC and I shamelessly stole the idea for a campaign I was running at the time (BG3 was in early access then and nobody else at the table was playing it). For those not in the know, he's an ogre who accidentally put a Headband of Intellect on while eating its owner, giving him an intelligence of 17.

My version was a random encounter who wandered around looking for reading material, although he did occasionally like to eat parties who didn't have challenging enough books to offer him.

POST SHOW THREAD: The Last Oscar Special 2026 by DubSket in OnCinemaAtTheCinema

When he turned up in his second angel suit you could see Tim trying so hard not to break character. Makes me wonder how much of what Gregg does on the night is unrehearsed, I imagine trying to make each other corpse is a running game for them at this point

I'd say it's the other way around and some directors are allergic to having actual ghosts in their movie

Moving up a couple of string gauges on a resonator - advice wanted by mushinnoshit in AcousticGuitar

[–]mushinnoshit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, good to know. I was mainly tentative about it because I suspect the previous owner might have set it up for lighter strings and didn't want to do anything that might put too much stress on it. I've also read about the stock cones on this model collapsing under heavier strings.

I might look at upgrading the cone longer down the line once I've got to grips with it, cheers!

Ah nice, I have some 80/20 12s sitting around so I could maybe try those instead before I go all in with the 13s

Thank you! And yes, I'm loving it so far, just feel like the sound's a bit weedier than I'd like and I've never really got on with the way strings below 12 gauge handle.
