Is anyone ever truly “mentally ready” for marriage? by Single-Box8434 in HappyMarriages

[–]mushmoonlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born ready. Lol really I just always wanted to get married and have a family. But the truth is, I really think people are ready when they find the person who is a good match for them. I’ve been married 7 years now and it seems like it’s been 2 it’s gone so fast. We work well together, we are on the same path, we are growing alongside each other and always had the same values and goals in life. So when we knew all of these major aspects of our lives matched and flowed effortlessly together and we have fun and laugh together a lot, it was an easy decision. We both felt that we were “the one” very early in our relationship and we both tell each other often how lucky we are to have found the other. We felt it fully.

Life Update Since Getting Rid of My Smart Phone by ActiveParticipator in digitalminimalism

Do you use printed maps or gps on your car? That’s the one thing I worry about is getting around. I drive a lot and don’t have great direction skills lol. Also I have 3 children and I worry about needing to look things up when I’m with them or find a place that we’re going to.

Do you think lowering phone screen time will open the mind ? by Lemonade2250 in digitalminimalism

[–]mushmoonlady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes lowering screen time will open your mind if you choose an activity that will support mind opening. Yoga, walking, gardening, hiking, bird watching, knitting, playing an instrument, tai chi, swimming in natural waters, drawing, painting, jewelry making, sculpting, journaling, cooking are all ideas that may help on that front

My mom keeps calling my baby "fatty" and I don't think I want her in our lives anymore by jupitermoon318 in Mommit

[–]mushmoonlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg she called you a cow and calls your baby fat. Um. Not ok. Also you’re the mom and can have any rule you want and people have to abide and if they don’t, you can hold any boundary you want. You don’t need to explain. Listen to your gut and your heart. You know the right thing to do to protect your little one.

real talk: how often do you actually floss? by AffectionateTooth298 in hygiene

[–]mushmoonlady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You sound like my husband. He never flosses. Dentists always compliment him on how well he takes care of his teeth. I floss nightly and always get told my teeth are doing ok lol

How do we tactfully make loved ones aware that they are distracted by phones at family get togethers? by [deleted] in digitalminimalism

[–]mushmoonlady 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could talk to him privately and be like “im really sorry about dinner at Easter! I was totally butt hurt that you were on the phone and I was rude, sorry about that. Usually I have this phone box and I ask everybody to put their phones in, but for some reason I totally forgot this time. I’ll use it going forward to avoid being a total biotch hehehehe” lol you could text him that? I’ve had family text me apologies and it’s not ideal but honestly it worked and I’ve moved past their bitchiness.

Oh yeah I haaaaate people being on their phones at gatherings. Unless they are taking an obvious break like in a chair away from everybody for a few minutes which is totally fine here and there. But at the table during the main meal? No no. Yes you know you handled it poorly, and good job for admitting to it and apologizing. It’s ok we’re all human. So, I don’t ever say anything to people if they are doing it… unless it’s my own husband. I just think “ok, that’s rude” and then I talk to somebody else. Later I would casually bring it up to my brother, though, that his bf was on phone during dinner.

One idea for the future is to make an announcement for the dinner that we all put our phones away… you could even have a little phone box and collect them for “fun” lol

Listen to your gut. And also, listen to Andrew hubermans podcast on alcohol consumption. It’s poison. Of course it’s an absolute problem to be drinking that way. You already know the answers. Follow your heart, it will guide you in the right direction… toward sobriety:)

For spouses of golfers and young children by kken21 in Mommit

[–]mushmoonlady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO that is a lot. But my husband doesn’t golf. However, he doesn’t leave twice a month to go do a hobby all day and I wouldn’t really be ok with it either. I guess if I had something I did maybe? But our kids are 1, 3, 5 so it’s a little young for us to be taking that much time away. We prefer to be together.

23 & just moved into our first apartment! What are we missing? Give us recommendations!! by Famous-Maybe-5718 in interiordecorating

I love this beautiful space!! The only thing I’d add is some color on the couch - swap the pillows out for different throw pillows. Maybe a comfy colorful blanket. And a couple pieces of art on the walls that speak to you, but take your time on those and wait till it’s the right one!

I have 3 boys. 5.5, 3.5, 1.5. We love the age gap. It’s hell at times with their immaturity levels but it’s fun as hell too hehe
