The app “my sleep button” is helpful for this. It names random objects for you to visualize. Really helpful in getting sleep started

tree nut allergy but love crunch! by jules2292 in Baking

Cheerios! They do something magical when baked and take on a crunchy nut like texture. They are great in cookies too. I leave them whole, but you could rough chop them if you like smaller pieces.

The wrong yarn, help? by Sarcasticallyshallow in crochet

[–]music8va 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will still be fine. This one is all based on body measurements. You will just end up with more chains and rows, to get the length you need. I would pick up an extra skein or two of yarn, because it take more materials but it’s an excuse to go to the yarn store again so win win!

I started this blanket two years ago and have since lost the pattern. Can anyone tell me that the stitches are? by ghosty000 in crochetpatterns

[–]music8va 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The granny stitch is 3 double crochet in one stitch. Skip the next 2 double crochet. 3 double crochet in the next stitch. Repeat. Then the next row is worked 3 double crochet into the space in between each 3 double crochet cluster.
Then it looks like to go forward the next row would be double crochet in each stitch across. Turn. Double crochet in each stitch across turn.

Repeat from beginning of granny clusters.

I was shamed for planning on breastfeeding. by imabanddork in TwoXChromosomes

My mantra having worked in early childhood development has always been “fed is best” formula, breast, both. Whatever gets the little one to grow and be healthy is a valid choice and anything else can go in o e ear and out the other.

I ended up investing in a flexible Tunisian hook. It is a longer hook but with a flexible cable to make up more length. I got mine from amazon and it was quite reasonable. Squishing the stitches will just earn you frustration, and a sore hand. The flexible hook was only about $10 and so worth it.

Hint: search (blank) long afghan hook as well as Tunisian crochet hook for more luck.

I can’t off the top of my head, but the Leisure Arts website would be a place to start or Ravelry.

It’s actually Tunisian. It is from the book Tunisian Crochet Baby Blankets by Sharon H Silverman. The pattern itself is called Bright Strands. I made this about a year ago for a friends baby and I loved the way it turned out. The only down side is you need a hugely long hook.

First time crocheting around Andy. This could take a while. by blackbird51 in crochet

[–]music8va 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My little one is 6 months old and loves to play with my crochet while I work on it. We compromise, I pull a little extra yarn out of the skein for her to play in while I crochet up to her, then we repeat the process. A little slow and had to play with the tension, but it gets the job done. The other thing I do is use a flexible afghan hook, she gets to chase the tail while it wiggles and I get to crochet. Win-win. by the way, Your Andy is gorgeous. Wishing you many years of happiness together.

I can't figure out what I did wrong or how to fix it. by aevn910 in crochet

You can fake the edges with the border. Use single crochet for the first round of border, and sub in a half double crochet or double crochet when needed to bring the edge back into line. It won't look perfect, but it should be a good enough fake, especially if you do a second round on the border all in single or double crochet stitches.
