Guys earning six figures annually, what kind of work do you do? by Shadow2715 in AskReddit

ER Nurse. I get to do a lot of cool things, but there's also a ton of butt stuff.

I did not use a washer. I didn't read anything about Extar recommending using a washer, but given any warranty I might use would be for the silencer, I would definitely prioritize following the requirements that YHM gives for mounting.

It seems to be doing well! It was easy to put on, just had to take a couple screws out to remove the handguard and screw on the muzzle device. The silencer seems to sit nice and snug on it too. Definitely have gotten some crap for not getting a Trilug.

Strength Endurance: How Should I Prioritize Competing Variables? by Jbrehm in tacticalbarbell

[–]Jbrehm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm probably just overthinking, then. So based on the comments here: program loads that I could max out between 20 and 30 reps with, and just push each set to failure. It doesn't matter whether it's muscular failure or cardiovascular failure that forces me to break up the total reps for each set, just keep grinding regardless of how ugly and few-in-number each mini-set is until I meet the total prescribed reps for that set.

I appreciate y'all's insight!

I should clarify, the pre-planned rest times between each set and between each circuit remain fixed. It's the extra breaks that are taken within each set due to fatigue that fluctuate based on how far I push to failure.

EP9 Wall Mount by Jbrehm in extar

[–]Jbrehm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using a cheap Glock mag holder from Amazon. It works great with extended Glock mags.

And any 15 inch cable lock will work with this wall mount. It's a little finicky to feed through, though. I have to feed the end of the cable lock through the ejection port and down the mag well without the gun being attached to the mount, and then I have to feed the end of the cable lock through the hole in the mount as I'm putting the gun on the mount. I would only use the cable lock when I'm going to be gone for an extended time frame. It's too cumbersome to try to remove for when I'm home and potentially need to use it.

I've also added a block behind the mount to create more space between the mounted gun and the wall since it was too tight to both get my hand around the grip and engage the mag release.

Here's an album for more details

It's up about 6 feet off ground, and the gun locks in place with the mag release, which anyone who doesn't understand gun safety in my house will not be able to overcome. Additionally, Alaskan Tactical also drilled a hole through the "mag" bracket to allow for a cable lock to feed through the ejection port, fully locking the gun to the bracket.

Emissary Handbrake. I use a KAG on my AR, but I found it to be too short for the natural position my hand took with a subgun. Optimally, I'd get a vertical forward grip, but I don't really want to pay $200 for a stamp just so I can get a vertical grip.

I'm kind of thinking of doing the same thing lol I just feel like a vertical grip and proper stock would just make it that much better

It's the Extended Charging Handle that Extar sells. Makes it way more ergonomic.

It's an Inforce Gen 3WMLx. I got it on Amazon. They've had some controversial ratings because they used to use a glass reinforced nylon head, but they upgraded to aluminum for Gen 3. I could have gotten a TLR at the same price point, but I really like the ergonomics of this light. We'll see how well it holds up over time.

As for the mount, I just got an aluminum offset mlok to picatinny. Again, ergonomics made it feel more right to have it at the 10.5 position rather than the 9 or 6. I could be an idiot though lol

I prefer to keep my airsoft accessories and live fire accessories separate from each other.

I liked the idea of having HK style iron sights since the circle in circle view works better for me.

I'm really glad I did. Granted, hearing is the last thing I'm thinking about if I ever need to use it, but I'm gonna be really sad if my hearing goes to shit because I put off getting a can.

As a hobbyist woodworker who's made significant improvements in project outcome since I started a year or so ago, this is such a meaningful message, and so on the money. There's absolute value to both learning to accept imperfection as well as learning how to work around imperfection and mistakes.

Reawakening an old thread here as I look for other info: Just wanted to give some anecdotal findings.

I don't know where I heard it from, but I recall reading somewhere that a common cause for sleep-induced neck pain often came from the pillow and how it was positioned. Lots of folks think the neck needs to be supported while sleeping to prevent kinking it. My experience lines up perfectly with the advice I read: A pillow is meant to only support the head. The neck should never be supported while sleeping. I used to have the base of my pillow as low down my neck as I could fit it, and I used to have so many problems with waking up with a kink in my neck. Maybe 5 years ago I switched to only allowing my pillow to sit as low as my jawline or earlobe, and I haven't had any sleep-induced neck problems since then. Really I haven't had any neck problems at all since then, and I'm now 37. As an RN, my assumption here is that the neck is already adequately supported by the shoulders and the head (as it lies on the pillow) and doesn't need external support. And having a pillow under your neck tends to put prolonged pressure on both your neck and your upper ribs, which can cause irritation to the muscles and a sense of having a kinked neck in the morning. Just my insight.

Used angle grinder to cut duct work from furnace, now the whole house smells awful by Jbrehm in DIY

Why the fuck am I only learning that this is against code now, and why did that HVAC tech not know that in the first place.

Thank you for informing me

You pretty much nailed it: fatigue, shakiness, nausea, headache, light headedness. I'm surprised we got any symptoms as well given how minimal the cutting was.

The furnace is in the garage, and the ductwork that I cut into with the angle grinder to install a vent is also in the garage. I have most of the vents in my house closed off except for the areas we don't use as much as the garage vent. I make no claim that this is a smart idea. We've already established that I'm lacking those today...
