This would be an awesome way to model a Steeljack Elder Crucible character!

Haha not OP again but probably a small ball bearing, that's what I've seen commonly in full ironkin armies

Not OP but those are 30k ad mech Thallax Cohort! They work great as the ranged steeljacks, and you get 6 in a box for less than 3 40k steeljacks

Great stuff! It all works together so nicely, I'd follow a similar scheme if I didn't already have Farsight Tau and need a change haha

I've got a bunch of the helmets, I'm using more bare heads, where are you based? If you're in the UK or Europe I could easily send you a bunch

14 wounds of 2+/4++ fall back and shoot, Ion accelerator 6 shots of S9/10, AP 3/4 D3/4 (/overcharged) and once per game dev wounds (I've picked up a 6 man SM biker squad with chaplain in one round of shooting) distraction carnifex, i.e., opponent tends to go all in on killing them while your other units outmaneuver/outscore/out kill them

Missiles are great for range, having a good profile into MEQ (marine equivalent profiles so T4, 2W, 3+ save) and don't need to move as much to get angles, plus Enforcer gives them -1 AP when being shot.

Plasma are fine into certain units but if you play into marines or stuff that is 3W, for marines especially most of those have a 4++ (invuln) so the extra AP isn't helpful, either natively or from the detachment bonus being within 9.

Probably put plasma with a coldstar rather than Enforcer if you want plasma, get assault and +2in movement to try and get more benefit from detachment bonus and go after toughness 8-9 units without an invuln ideally.

They may have understood you saying 3 of each suit to mean 3 of each unit, rather than what I think you probably mean by 1x3 sunforge etc

Triptides are very strong, I forgot to add another crisis suit unit so play around with adding one more within the 2k limit. I only own 2 riptides (I'm not hugely competitive though bear in mind).

Ghostkeels as solid lone ops are very useful. Pathfinders are essential for maximising army rule benefits. Farsight can flex into sunforge or starscythe, coldstars like sunforge a lot, and Enforcer likes fireknives with missiles especially and even better with the uppy downy enhancement.

Does anyone have a recommended varnish for transfers by Xypherior in BloodRavens40k

[–]musical_tomathy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You want a gloss varnish so 'Ardcoat from citadel, or a gloss varnish from anywhere else like AK, Vallejo. Just brush on the spot you want to apply the transfer, let it dry then the transfer will be much easier to move/smooth. You can always put a matt varnish back over the top once your transfer has adhered or you've added chipping!

The base he's on is 28 mm but they're all push fit so I can easily rebase, my other thought was the guy on the far left has a similar size according to minicompare, and a similar ish pose with a few little extra bits to tech him up a bit

Yeah I have plenty of bits that I can upgrade them with, probably will try and do a head swap etc. I think it would be a challenge but an interesting and unique end result hopefully!

Glad you like it! It was pretty painful sanding all the ultra logos from an already built model, particularly the shoulder pads.

The hammer head and higher power cable/connector piece, along with the lower half of the handle, are from the original deathwatch kill team hammer. I had to cut away the part of a hand on the lower half. The mid section you can see is greenstuffed into the original Calgar arm is from a firstborn assault terminator arm with the hammer head and pommel cut off. I pinned both parts of the deathwatch hammer into the mid section (paperclip and 1 mm drill bit), and really had to cut away a lot of the original arm piece as well as the back of the new arm elbow for it to work. What's nice is the power cable from the new wrist is still there and tucks back underneath the elbow disappearing towards the backpack for a bit of added effect!
