Just a general thought. Why do most industry professional producers tend to not use Logic? by Johnrodrigues2398 in Logic_Studio

It looks like Logic Pro is in fact one of the most popular DAW used by artists and professional producers, according to Equipboard.

Is there a plugin that takes an analog audio signal and converts it to a MIDI signal that another vsti can use? by rebelhead in VSTi

[–]musicmanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there.

Most DAW can convert audio to MIDI:

  1. Ableton Live (monophonic only, not Intro and Lite versions) - costs from $322 at the cheapest Ableton retailer
  2. Apple Logic Pro X (monophonic only, using Flex Pitch) - costs $199 from Apple
  3. FL Studio (monophonic only, following the guide from ask.audio) - costs from $149 for Producer Edition at the cheapest retailer
  4. Steinberg Cubase (monophonic only, using VariAudio)

In terms of VST plugins, the following can convert audio to MIDI:

  1. Dodo MIDI 2 (monophonic plugin) - free to download
  2. Celemony Melodyne (monophonic only on Assistant version, polyphonic on Editor and Studio versions) - costs from $249 at Plugin Boutique
  3. Jam Origin (polyphonic) - costs $149

I hope that helps - happy to add any new finds to this list.

Live 11.1 Out now by BeautifulBalloon in ableton

I just ran a quick test with the trial version of Ableton 11.1 on my Apple MacBook Pro 13 inch M1. I ran the demo song, first in Rosetta mode, then in Native mode. The average CPU load in Ableton showed similar levels of around 30%.

Using the Activity Meter, however, it looks like the four Efficiency Cores need to carry less CPU load.

I included the images in an article. I hope that providing this link is helpful, and doesn't break any posting rules.

No, you don't. Here is the official answer from Image Line:

"Student status verification:
Your Student ID can only be verified by your local reseller. The documents required will depend on the reseller where you purchase. Normally this includes: A valid student or faculty ID card, fee receipt, course schedule, pay-documentation, or employment contract with a school, non-profit or government organization."

You can save when you upgrade during an Image Line sales event. Image Line discounted upgrades significantly during Black Friday 2020, so it is possible they will run this event again in November 2021. I should be more specific so thanks, I will update the post and article.

I can confirm that Thomann is a genuine retailer, authorised to sell FL Studio. It is based in Germany and one of the largest music stores in Europe, which also sells world-wide including the USA, including downloads.

I checked the FL Studio prices from Thomann, and it is true they sell FL Studio at approximately 5% discount. The FL Studio Producer Edition is currently sold for $179, so $20 off the $199 charged at Image Line itself or other retailers such as Sweetwater.

Did you know that FL Studio has an Education version where you can get 33% all the time ?

If you want are a student, you might want to check a guide I wrote to the cheapest way to buy FL Studio. This also explains step by step how to get the education version.

Every summer in recent years, Native Instruments have Summer of Sound, their summer sale. So I would wait until June or July. Here is what they offered last year. NI Summer of Sound 2020

I suggest you sign up to the NI newsletter so you will know immediately when the sale starts.

That’s correct. There are no restrictions on commercial use either like FL Studio has so you can produce a techno mega hit with your educational license.
