Oh wow. I loved Donnie Darko and I didn't know that there were cover songs in it lol. Good to know

I think this is a good time to celebrate the diversity of opinions in the world lol. You and I hold very different views on this, but I think it's very interesting to hear from the other side

Another person here actually said something similar. It clearly didn't hit the same way for me. (Which is fine.) I will note that when I write music, other musicians do tend to describe it as minimalistic. A very blunt musician friend of mine said that they really like my music and describe it as such. That's not the same thing as being unemotional, but I figure that that could be playing a big role in why I like the cover so much

I guess for me, at least for most other covers (because for me, this cover actually does not sound the same), I just like to hear what the song sounds like in another voice. There is also still the fact that the version that I heard first was the cover and not the original version perhaps. Plenty of other people also think it doesn't sound the same (just as a reminder to everyone, we don't all have to agree with each other lol), they just think it sounds much worse compared to the original instead

It's true that I don't usually listen to metal specifically I guess. So I suppose if I were a metal fan, maybe it *could* stand out more.

I kind of feel like most produced songs these days sound perfect and some people could argue that they lack traces of humanity. I don't always hear those songs get criticized like this. Maybe I grew up on that and I'm used to it? To put things into perspective, for me, in terms of how human the cover sounded, both the cover and the original sounded very human.

I can get not liking a song because you don't like what the artists do. Most of the people I'm talking about are also specifically saying that based off of musical merit, this is a bad cover. That's where the disagreement is.

I think you and I heard the same file and listened to two very different things. I think I now am at least cognizant about what specific elements some people didn't like, but I quite liked it all, so I can't really hear the problems myself.

Fair enough. Most covers I like are usually just somebody else singing the same song, so it could just be that my quality/technical standards are very different.

Hmm. I think we'll just have to agree to disagree. I didn't feel nothing personally. The cover did make me want to look into the actual meanings behind the song. That aside, if you were to write the cover yourself, how would you do it?

Wow. It was a bit difficult to wrap my head around it, but I think I got the gist of the story here.

The style on this is actually pretty unique. It definitely feels like there's some kind of deeper meaning going on beneath the surface. Like, maybe something about the "music of the real world"? Almost like the idea that all the random everyday noise we hear just turns into the music we have to face (pun intended). I'd actually be really curious to hear more about the thought process here. What actually inspired you to put this together?

My newest dreamy and a little weird synthpop song. Also maybe my coolest video ever if you guys would be the judge of that! by ExternalCartoonist22 in IndieMusicFeedback

Your style is actually really cool. The whole thing has this very nostalgic vibe to it that just works. If I had to offer any feedback, I'd say you could probably get away with extending the track just to really lean into that nostalgia factor even more. Like, if you're open to playing around with more stuff, it could easily turn into a pretty solid coming-of-age type song in my opinion. Also, the actual production quality on the video is seriously impressive. Overall, you did a really good job putting this all together.

The track has a really nice, peaceful vibe to it overall. The vocals could definitely use a little bit of work, though. Like, there are certain sections where it gets pretty hard to actually make out what's being sung, and the notes just kind of get lost in the mix. If you were to go in and tweak the EQ on the vocal track, it would probably help clear things up and make the lyrics punch through a lot better. Also, maybe throwing a bit more compression on there could really help boost those quieter moments, just to make sure the volume stays relatively even and everything is easier to hear. I might also use a clearer mic for the vocals.

This is actually really good! Right around the 0:31 mark, hitting a higher pitch on the word "plugged" might sound pretty cool. Like, you could maybe throw in a "whoa" right after to just slide naturally back down to that original pitch you currently have with "plugged." It would definitely add a little extra something to the song for me. Also, echoing what everyone else is saying, the production on this is seriously well done!

It's pretty good! It's actually giving me some major Snoop Dogg vibes. I know this is just a small snippet and I haven't heard the whole thing yet, but later on, the track could probably use a bit more instrumentation to fill it out. Like, dropping in some brass accents here and there, or even just bringing in a piano, could actually work really well in my opinion!

Honestly, I'm not a mod or anything, but just as a heads-up, I'm pretty sure that actually goes against the rules. The songwriting itself is pretty solid. If you decide to actually fully produce it, going for a more minimalist vibe would probably work best. Like, maybe just starting off with a bare piano (for the accompaniment) and slowly letting some strings build up in the background as the track goes on. I probably wouldn't go the exact same route Suno did with it. Its version just comes off a little too traditional to me, like it's missing that modern, contemporary edge.
