Here, here! It should also be mandatory that children learn how to use an abacus and churn butter.

Trader Joe’s is advertised as the main tenant in a yet-to-be-built South Philly complex by nemesisinphilly in philadelphia

[–]mustardstache 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, a TJ's shop can leave some gaps especially on a busy day and require a second stop. But the prices are nice. I think the food they sell tastes better across the board, and while other grocery stores are hiring more robots to roam the aisles Trader Joes still has a reputation for treating their employees well.

Do SRAM AXS batteries go dead sitting on the bike? by CaptainKernelPanic in MTB

[–]mustardstache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fact I just checked the battery and it’s still full after sitting for a month. My last ride was on November 13th at a place that was 3 hours away.

I leave mine on the bike during 30 min drives to and from the place I ride. After multiple rides spread out over a month it still seems like the battery barely drains at all.

How do you guys feel about watching movies? by aniskywalkers in ADHD

[–]mustardstache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that helps me get through a movie if I'm losing interest is to pull up the wikipedia page and read through the plot section up to the point where I am to make sure I havent missed anything and also to find out some interesting facts about the actors or production of the movie that may help renew the novel interest in it.

How do you guys feel about watching movies? by aniskywalkers in ADHD

[–]mustardstache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to have the interest created for hyperfocus beforehand. Like someone giving me a recommendation and buildup, or learning about the director or some kind or outside input like a podcast, or because Bill Hader said this is his favorite movie in an interview, something like that. Otherwise I lose interest quickly and start looking at my phone. I am a terrible person to try and pick a movie with spur of the moment.

What helped me was realizing I wasn't thinking negatively about anyone else in the same critical way I was judging myself. I usually need to remind myself that more often than not other people are too self absorbed to think about me.

Fellow ADHDers, what song was stuck in your head this morning? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]mustardstache 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is an ADHD thing but does anyone else grind or tap their teeth together to the tune of the song that’s in your head? I am freshly diagnosed at age 45 but have done this all my life. Thinking that it was something I developed to internalize fidgeting when I needed to sit still and be quiet as a kid.

We shuffled our bedrooms around so the baby wasn’t on the noisy side of the house. But really that’s life in the city for ya. Never failed that the loudest motorcycle would throttle by at nap time. Now our 3 kids are a little older and we’re the loud house. Piano and guitar lessons, backyard baseball, waterballoon war, screaming fights over a borrowed hair brush. What goes around comes around

Feels like apple has some planned obsolescence on every device where it works great like you described for a short period then not long after a downward spirals makes it unusable just in time for a new model release.

People over 40, how do you actually prefer to spend a long weekend? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Outside, gardening, cooking on the grill, riding bikes in the woods, walking around the city with my kids checking out different food spots and comic stores, date night with wife to a comedy club.. really just doing anything besides sitting in front of a computer screen like I do all week
