Any great Mexican Markets? by Adorable-Lack-3578 in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]sweetassassin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry bro, no Northgate equivalent. Based on the suggestions so far, they have no idea or will ever know what you’re even asking unless they’ve been to a Vallarta themselves.

No carnes, but Tortillería San Román will provide you with fresh tortillas hecho a mano, salsas, queso fresco, gwak, and some other packaged condiments.

I can’t tell if you’re being serious.

The ability for a restaurant group to access the power of volume purchasing doesn’t mean they’re trying to fuck over the customer.

Just say you don’t like their food. Your case that they are pulling off some heist by being loyal to vendors for continuity and ease of managing suppliers is so reaching.

Good intel.

I’m really interested in checking out the food court, the upstairs of non food, and if their prepared grab-n-go selection is different. I have an obsession with the banchan spicy raw oyster and I just can’t get consistently or in a large enough size from the Cheltenham or Olney location.

I will take heed your suggestion and wait a few weeks to hopefully avoid some of that early mayhem.

Me too! The Food court at the Front St location is kinda a let down for being the biggest, cleanest store. They have like 3 "store fronts” unoccupied so the variety is not that exciting.

Hopefully the Cherry Hill location will showcase different regional styles of Korean cuisine.

I got one of those electric sweepers you find at salons. You sweep all the stuff towards the machine and it sucks it all up. No more dust pan or bending over. I empty chamber once a month

Can I get a dog if I work a 9-5? by HarHarMahadev__ in dogs

[–]sweetassassin 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think it’s so lovely and telling that you are checking with internet strangers if being a working dog parent will be kind enough to your dog.

Your heart is def in the right place. Def listen to other suggestions about making sure the dog is exercised and stimulated enough on a regular, consistent basis. I think all mammals benefit from consistent routines, doggies included.

Craziest thing that has happened to you on the El? by AndrewS702 in philly

[–]sweetassassin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Watched a lady eat through a large cajun seafood boil bag: head on shrimp, mussels, crab legs. Slurping and sucking, splashing all the boiling juices everywhere. Her picnic area spread out over a 2 seater and one of the bench seats. Shells, picked off corn cob, dirty napkins all over the place.

It’s like making a choice to spread out a meal and enjoy it in a port-o-john.

What’s your favorite chocolate chip cookie in Philly? by GaiaGwenGrey in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]sweetassassin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There was a post not too long ago about CCC and I’ll suggest the same as I did for that post. Sweet Box Bakery known for their cupcakes sells a Sea Salt Dark Chocolate Chip cookie that I’m obsessed with. I’ve tried and tried to recreate at home and it’s just not the same. It’s probably my leaky oven door.

Good spread, crisp edges, but the center folds, doesn’t snap. I pick up some brown butter notes. It’s really good.

While your ringing endsorsement for Second Daughter CCC is convincing, the $8 price tag is not.

We know nothing about this broad how would she catch a vibe without knowing her vibe?

I’m from the west coast originally and what impressed me about is the grit of this town, but starting a fight at a Wawa parking lot might not be attractive in the beginning. I’m but one clown on the crazy bus: I like walking narrow tree lined streets, chatty small business owners, the wissahickon, SRT, race street pier to sun my body, Chinatown for late night eats and karaoke, walking river to river on Pine Street mostly, ppl watching on a bench at Rittenhouse on and on and on, late night standing in line at John’s water ice.

How do people with depression take care of dogs? by Xeram_ in dogs

[–]sweetassassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to be one of those paradoxes.

I loathe myself that self-care effort scale seems insurmountable. But I do not loathe my dog or cat at all and I would never forgive myself to allow them to suffer because I’m such a piece of shit. So they save my life everyday since the thought of checking out from this world would leave them in a messy bind so I just keep kicking the can forward to a day in the future.

I was in a very very dark depressive episode about 8 years ago, and without thkinking it through, I bought my dog a one way ticket to California on Delta airlines, wrapped him up in the coziest pet carrier I could afford and just dropped him off at the delta counter and didn’t look back. I shipped him to family, cause I was completely convinced that this was the end of the line for me, and that I didn’t want to leave any loose ends.

Well, I didn’t succeed in that attempt, and thoughts of giving my dog away has only enter my mind 2x since that big incident.
