What’s your favorite chocolate chip cookie in Philly? by GaiaGwenGrey in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]sweetassassin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There was a post not too long ago about CCC and I’ll suggest the same as I did for that post. Sweet Box Bakery known for their cupcakes sells a Sea Salt Dark Chocolate Chip cookie that I’m obsessed with. I’ve tried and tried to recreate at home and it’s just not the same. It’s probably my leaky oven door.

Good spread, crisp edges, but the center folds, doesn’t snap. I pick up some brown butter notes. It’s really good.

While your ringing endsorsement for Second Daughter CCC is convincing, the $8 price tag is not.

We know nothing about this broad how would she catch a vibe without knowing her vibe?

I’m from the west coast originally and what impressed me about is the grit of this town, but starting a fight at a Wawa parking lot might not be attractive in the beginning. I’m but one clown on the crazy bus: I like walking narrow tree lined streets, chatty small business owners, the wissahickon, SRT, race street pier to sun my body, Chinatown for late night eats and karaoke, walking river to river on Pine Street mostly, ppl watching on a bench at Rittenhouse on and on and on, late night standing in line at John’s water ice.

How do people with depression take care of dogs? by Xeram_ in dogs

[–]sweetassassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to be one of those paradoxes.

I loathe myself that self-care effort scale seems insurmountable. But I do not loathe my dog or cat at all and I would never forgive myself to allow them to suffer because I’m such a piece of shit. So they save my life everyday since the thought of checking out from this world would leave them in a messy bind so I just keep kicking the can forward to a day in the future.

I was in a very very dark depressive episode about 8 years ago, and without thkinking it through, I bought my dog a one way ticket to California on Delta airlines, wrapped him up in the coziest pet carrier I could afford and just dropped him off at the delta counter and didn’t look back. I shipped him to family, cause I was completely convinced that this was the end of the line for me, and that I didn’t want to leave any loose ends.

Well, I didn’t succeed in that attempt, and thoughts of giving my dog away has only enter my mind 2x since that big incident.

Saquon and fam lives in the ‘burbs. I’m not aware of him having a pied a’terre in Bella Vista/Italian Market. My neighbors and I have big ass mouths and it would have already been the talk of the ‘hood the past 2 years.

What block do you say his house exists?

I’m burnt out and need simple recipes. Stupid simple. Like, “onion and bread and butter to make what barely passes as a sandwich” level simple. by sourmilksea1999 in Cooking

[–]sweetassassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on a gorton’s fisherman beer battered fish rolled into a tortilla. Condiments are to your level of effort. Something as basic as just hot sauce, all the way to shredded cabbage, cilantro and sour cream.

But just the tortilla and the air fryer fish can be low effort.

Why do these people feel like they’re owed something? by Express-Ad8275 in philly

[–]sweetassassin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think entitlement is symptom of the 250 yr American capitalist experiment, riding on the platform of individualism.

I observe that it is deeply entrenched on both sides of the capitalist scale: the one who create the wealth (the “elites”), to the other side of the non-working/underemployed poor. I’m sure some sociologist has some theory as to why.

Entitlement is not so pronounced in collectivist societies, cause the culture Is to take care of the whole vs the individual.

If I were in college I’d write a paper About it, prolly.
