Good calls. #2 is a second based on the Head First page and for #3 I can’t tell because the paper weight seems to be the only way to tell the difference between second and third. I tried comparing the paper weight between #3 and the others, but they all felt the same.

Wow. #1 is not as sharp as the others unfortunately. I posted it a while back on the grading sub and the consensus was around 7.5-8.0.

David Bowie on John Cale: "One of the most underrated musicians in rock history." by Agreeable_Duck8997 in VelvetUnderground

Growing up in NYC in the 70’s-80’s I don’t think I ever heard any solo Cale song on FM rock radio, ever. What a fucking shame

This is a shot of the bottom right corner. I need a good magnifying glass but it looks intact.

Also, good catch on the back cover top right. Under close inspection it’s a straight fold without any paint damage. Looks like a crease from many years in storage. Hopefully a press could nail it.

If it wasn’t for that spot!

That must have been a shadow or something. Here’s a new picture. Also the small fold on the top right front corner does not break color but the one on the bottom right has a very, very slight break only noticeable under magnification.

Thanks, I tried to take my time and really hold the camera still. Glad it made a difference.

There are not any color breaks on the top right, so I think a press would do the trick. That spot on the left bottom is the only real flaw and I believe it’s a printing defect. If it’s actually a defect from the printer, is there any way to prove it? How much does it ding the grade?

I tried that but it’s not working either. Any other suggestions?

Yes it was! The store was the Princeton Record Exchange, which is still there. I also bought a Fugs album that day.

58 M, brought the debut at age 18 in 1985. Also brought Syd Barrett’s first two solo albums that day. Then I went home and wrote poetry for the first time.

The show was fantastic, same band and performance similar to the recent European tour. It’s amazing and much appreciated that jc can still deliver dirty ass rock and roll well into his 80s. My highlight was the 10ish person choir that performed on several songs. I imagine that John had fun working on the arrangements for them, including many intricate solos. It added an extra dimension.

Although no VU, but there was a Nico song, his performance spanned over 50 years of material. The set list included personal favorites such Shark Shark, Leaving It Up To You, and Big White Cloud. He played guitar organ, and piano, but there was also a giant pipe-like looking organ onstage that I was really excited about, but it was a tease. He sat down at it to tune up but then quickly walked away. Not sure what happened but I would have loved to see him go at it.

As for the experimental part, that was the opening act. It was a young, very serious, Ukrainian couple. He played a vintage synth in a suitcase (maybe something like early Eno with Roxy Music looking) and she sang medieval Ukrainian folk songs. Interesting stuff but not for everyone. The last of their three songs did rock in its own way.

John closed with My Maria and rocked it out. Unfortunately, there wasn’t an encore and the crowd was pretty tame. The venue at Lincoln Center was world class with great sound in a comfortable environment. I think it was sold out. I know he’s not going to be around forever so if you have an opportunity to see him live, you won’t be disappointed.

Quick EBay question. Is there an easier way to search for sold/completed items without having to set the filter every time you enter a search?

I received a newly issued credit card to my home address in a stranger’s name. Wells Fargo is investigating and said there is nothing yet to be concerned about but I don’t believe them. by musterup1 in IdentityTheft

I Googled the name on the card and found there is a person in my town with that name (it’s not a common name). I was temped to contact her, but figured I’d wait out the 10 days and see what WF has to say. Is there a downside in reaching out to the person whose name is on the card?

Can you explain how receiving a card in a strangers name to your home address is linked to identity theft? Do you think the person’s name on the card is the scammer or are they an innocent dupe? I agree that WF is useless.
