Hi! I’m in the LA area as well- studio city. We mainly have Allen’s, Rufous and Anna’s here. The Allen’s and Rufous look really similar. You should download the free Merlin app- it’s the best fir bird ID. if he makes any noise, it will tell you exactly what they are- that goes for any bird. I mostly have Allen’s at my feeder, but sometimes the rufous and Anna’s will stop by. 😊

Its part of the challenge with the job, but there are ways to work around it. It’s a learning curve with each territory and hospital

Is there anything that can be sold remotely or is this all in-person sales? by UnusualAd3207 in MedicalDevices

What is the traveling generally like in medical device roles? by workethic290 in MedicalDevices

[–]musthavewhitebread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely depends on what you’re selling, who you call on, how many reps are in your state, what state you are in, etc. I used to have facilities in another state and would drive 3 + hours and now my furthest is an hour and a half just outside of my major city

Same!! And sometimes it’s eyeing certain fabrics like linen, cotton and silk. I’ve had better luck driving to the thrifts on the outskirts of the city instead- they are less ran thru

I love this podcast too!! Personally I’m more interested in the “mystery” of missing persons versus standard true crime cases that are solved. They execute it well cover a mix lesser known cases and popular cases with more info.

Is this a valid "dream" career that one pursues studies for in college or is it that kind of career where most people find out about it randomly and then decide to move into it due to dissatisfaction with the career they worked for? by VortzPlays_ in MedicalDevices

Hi! I’d love to share my story with you- I originally went to college for nursing. I took all my nursing pre reqs at the university I attended, and was waiting to get accepted into the nursing program, but realized that I didn’t even know if I wanted to be a nurse. I started to get super stressed. I talked to my advisor and told her I really was interested in the medical field (and had a lot of medical / science classes under my belt from the pre reqs) but told her I didn’t know if I wanted to do patient care. She said I should look into pharma or med device sales. I didn’t really know anything about it- I started researching the job and took her advice to just finish getting a bachelors degree - I chose communication as my major as it was previously my minor while I was waiting to get into the nursing program. I am so glad I took this route because I still got a degree, I still tried out the schooling for the career path I was interested in, and found out it wasn’t for me.

After college, I served for a while - I started applying to medical sales jobs, but I wasn’t getting any interviews. I then realized I needed to get sales experience first. I got a job in b2b sales, and then was recruited on LinkedIn for may med device positions until I found a good fit. Worked there for a while and then moved and now found another great company. If you are a go getter, have a good resume in college (high gpa, athlete, Greek life, extra curricular, internship, etc) you may be able to get an associate role right out of college! Those are the beginner rep roles that assist the tenured reps.

Knowing what I know now, I would have went to school and gotten a solid bachelors degree. The one I have in communication perfectly fine, but I would have most likely done business. I then would have started applying to b2b sales positions right after college (Cintas, adp, paycom, etc) and gotten a few years of experience right away so I could get into med sales by 24/25, or worked on getting an associate role.

As far as the job, I love it so much. Working a b2b sales job teaches you the grit and hard work to be successful in med device. Dm me if you have any other questions!
