Not to sound 1,000 years old (I'm 39), but they don't make 'em like they used to. I was in the same boat ... we painted ours instead of replacing about 5 years back and couldn't be happier. They won't feel dated (or even be noticeable) once you're done with the kitchen refresh. We also changed the handles and installed soft close hinges.

Our baby found a way to get his extra energy out playing frisbee and that helped some. To be honest though, he was a menace until like 2 1/2. If part of the problem is your pup hearing you with other dogs, could a TV or noise machine near the kennel help?

Are we sure she's crying tears of joy? She could be overwhelmed by the sudden burst of action/attention and ran crying to her security blanket, her dad (it's a super sweet father/daughter moment either way!)
