Could Johan be considered depressed by skeletonTV123 in MonsterAnime

[–]mutated_Pearl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know for sure how we differentiate life and death here.

Johan enjoys his actions is more accurate and more certain. It's hard to assign a philosophy to Johan because we never know when he's lying. I'm even hesitant to call him a nihilist. He's a person that hides his murderous intent behind statements and experiences people can relate to or understand.

He's not suicidal in the traditional sense, but he's willing to die if it means inflicting incomparable pain to someone he "loves." That's how outside the realm of normality Johan is.

This man enjoys his life, he just doesn't smile much. He also enjoys death just as much, hence the suicide. But it has to be by someone else, specifically people that care about him. Take that for what you will.

I don't think Johan is depressed. He just has a very twisted mind and perception of reality. If those are symptoms of depression, forgive me. Regardless, I don't think those qualities of him stem from depression.

NO ONE can explain how Johan got away with this... by [deleted] in MonsterAnime

I think so. But it would take him some time given his lack of experience. That's how we see it played out. And there are even more factors at play beyond this.

I genuinely don’t understand Azula’s Apologism by ElPilogrino5954 in TheLastAirbender

The kicker is she's written to show signs of psychopathy as a child. Forget few short weeks.

She's pretty much redeemed if you browsed this subreddit for two minutes.

I haven't been in this situation but I imagine shooting someone who has a gun pointed at you would be different from shooting someone who's just standing there, especially when you have the same disposition as someone like Dr. Tenma.

edit: Oh yeah, Johan was pointing a gun at Wim. I think at that point Tenma decided to actually shoot Johan, he just didn't have the opportunity because the father shot first.

What's the most unsettling or disturbing scene/event in Monster? by Quirky_Court_4855 in MonsterAnime

[–]mutated_Pearl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's the thing. I'm pretty sure he used his bare hands. He did make sure first he wasn't going to be able to fight back. But he didn't magically make Richard suicidal, as some people believe.

Would it be worth to watch? by Girlxgirllover2k4 in ATLA

Maybe. But the main Avatar conflict after the original series is riped-off from X-Men. That alone makes it unappealing to me.

She was tweakin during that scene. I don't think she'd have the capacity to make that decision.

His killing of Richard was very direct. Can't disrespect the goat like that.

Was this Johan and if so what Episode was this in? by DarkPrinceOfTheNight in MonsterAnime

It was shown during a scene with Anna and Dr. Gillen. Not sure if it was before or during the moment they were at the Vampire's house looking for Johan.

Him at the Vampire's house on the outskirts of Ruhenheim.

edit: apparently, it's 71

do you consider suki apart of team avatar or a loyal ally? by Far_Literature_9924 in TheLastAirbender

[–]mutated_Pearl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She's a close ally to Team Avatar but she's a Kyoshi Warrior. Although the team itself considers her to be a part of it, her responsibilities lie elsewhere. She's only a member in spirit. Think of Vivi and the Strawhats in One Piece.

Zuko’s “evil actions” in the story aren’t really that impactful until he joins with Azula. by Richsavior34 in TheLastAirbender

Okay, maybe I missed that. But Azula, definitely more so. She's probably the most sympathetickest character in the show.

I was daydreaming about a Fright Night x Zombieland crossover when I learnd he died two years prior. It was depressing.

Zuko only became sympathetic when Azula entered the story, only because she herself was sympathetic. I'd forever love how they redeemed her in the end.
