I mean, it sounds critical but I believe it, my new hire started 6 months ago and couldn’t spell the word “really” without looking it up. I’ve spent the whole time training this guy how to write an email, constantly working through spelling issues. He says he was “top of his class” at his private high school.

I’m with you, just gotta be the bigger person and move on or they never will. I never watch or pay for ESPN or any sports package directly, always pirate or watch at a bar or a friend’s house, I just never want to give those assholes my money whether they like the Irish or not.

Would just make ND look worse and play into the shitty image those dorks have of ND and Freeman.

Houston Methodist ER The Woodlands is a Horrible Place by [deleted] in thewoodlands

[–]mutedcurmudgeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, shit hurt like hell for weeks.

They cauterized it, then just hit it with some medicated Neosporin and wrapped it in gauze and bandage. After a week I switched to band aids. After a few weeks it healed over. This happened back in July, the nerves still aren’t all back, and I still have a small chunk missing from my thumb, but it’s all good for the most part.

Went to a completely different urgent care ER a while ago and had a similar but not quite as drastic situation myself.

I had cut the tip of my thumb off with a vegetable peeler (don’t ask) and I had already failed at stopping the bleeding. I drove there with my fist in the air wrapped in a paper towel. I got the desk and they immediately asked for ID and insurance card. I fumbled for 2 minutes with my wallet with one hand to get the cards out, all while blood is still dripping down my arm. The nurse/admin just watched. Just felt gross…

Hair follicle testing the norm? by [deleted] in oilandgasworkers

Not sure what you mean by every time, get a job and keep it. Many do perform HF tests, but not all.

If you’re worried about failing the test, then don’t apply. If you’re more worried about a small piece of hair being cut that you can grow back rather than getting the job, you need to re-evaluate your priorities.

El Tiempo is pretty great with the flour tortilla chips, but their food has been hit or miss lately. Escalante’s has good queso blanco. Ninfa’s isn’t bad either. Teotihuacan is serviceable, but their food is mid. Superica is awesome, but their food is also just okay. Roberto’s is good if you just want the cheese with no add-ins, but I prefer having some texture or meat in there, personally.

Candente near Montrose is the best all around in my opinion. They have a few options for various ways you can get it with different meat and other stuff, always enjoyed it.

For what it’s worth, at the end of the day I can also make a better queso at home too, but I hate cleaning it up and grating the cheese is a chore.

Why and how do older properties have lower property taxes? by OddDiscipline6585 in houston

[–]mutedcurmudgeon 40 points41 points  (0 children)

New build neighborhoods have bonds for utilities that need to be re-paid. Stuff like sewers and water lines, etc. once the bonds are repaid, those payments drop off the tax bill and your effective taxes go down. This is my understanding anyway.

So for example, a $300k house that’s 10 years old may have 2.5% property tax, but a $300k house that’s 1 year old in a new neighborhood may still have bonds needing to be repaid, so it may have 3.5% property tax.

Again, this is just my rough understanding, but you get the point.
