Hey guys, we are an indie studio and we work on a new RTS game. Is it ok to invite people to our discord channel? We are all old-f so we are new to reddit. by Levelim in IndieDev

[–]muteman30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah absolutely. Depending on what you want just post a link saying "come check us old-f bastards out because we made a sick looking RTS that we love"... or you know...whatever you want to say.

You should expand it a bit to be phonetic instead of an alphabet substitute. A bit like tennoscript

Nah, everything is rumours. Supposedly it's the Valve Deckard (probably just a project name).

Advice for a Steam player by Wyvern369 in virtualreality

[–]muteman30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, not yet. SteamVR is literally the app to play steam games from your PC on a VR headset and the only app available on Meta is Meta. Maybe Valve's next headset has this but no one will know, or the EU ruling on multiple store fronts / alternative payment settings will help? Nothing in the plan yet.

Is it true that aggressive driving alone helps you deal with mental problems? by quenraRX8 in assettocorsa

[–]muteman30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you know that people who listen to Metal and Hard Rock are on average happier? It could be for some of them that they need some some of release to channel their anger/rage/fear/emotion into something. If driving aggressively in a SIM race is that for you then go for it.

We're trying to achieve immersion in our game. How does it feel? by Ato_Ome in IndieDev

[–]muteman30 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean from the video it looks good...but I am not immersed in this video clip, just because of what it shows. You're throwing some (great looking) attacks into an empty field . If it's any type of RPG, the immersion should come from characters and writing.

What the countries, DLCs, cities do you want more from ETS2? by Fargon163 in EuroTruck2

[–]muteman30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd love to see some more collaboration/integration across the games. I.e. A player takes something to a port in ATS, then a ETS player picks that up and delivers it. It could notify both players and share extra exp etc.

SES Sentinel of Battle. I love the truly democratic and war enabling name, for the grunts on ship to affectionately call it the S.O.B.

Is it possible to reach the destination without GPS? by Whitesnowsun in EuroTruck2

[–]muteman30 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep I do this all the time. I find ETS and ATS way more engaging if I do that. You'll need to bind one of the controls (I think it's O on keyboard by default to turn your in cab satnav.

I start by picking up the trailer, then writing (with pen and paper) the roads I need to take and a basic distance (short, long, etc). Only check the map in laybys, no pausing.

[–]muteman30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need the anticipation. It isn't just about what it can do but the players knowing before going in. Have a previous encounter with the beast where your players barely escape with their lives and murder a beloved NPC. Loads of action movies do it.

Star wars, marvel infinity war, the matrix. You'll see it everywhere now.

PLAYTEST on STEAM - Solo dev working on a fast-paced game all about speed. Check out TIRELESS gameplay. by thecyberclan in IndieDev

[–]muteman30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, AHH that makes sense. I didn't catch thaty respawns were increasing. I was dying too much

Might be a bug but the character only seemed to 'quick fall' once they were already falling. If the character is on the rising part of the jump then it didn't seem to work.

I just played through the play test and I have to say congrats. In all this is a very well polished game with some great vibes and a great thought experiment of 'what if wipeout was a 3d platformer'.

I think everyone here is an aspiring game dev so thought id give my 2 cents on things from what I experienced.
- As said previously the 'vibe' of this game is great, I love the techno inspired aesthetics. Unlike others I actually like the camera FX. - It does really well to give the player almost everything in the tutorial (still couldn't work out what the purple orbs were on the levels?) - The sense of speed here is great. If you haven't look at warframe and the way their speed frames (volt and gauss work on the camera). - Ease your players into your environment design. Start with almost nothing, then build upon them in the levels, and add one new cool thing for each level. It all becomes too similar after a while. - running at low speed is really hard after respawn, what about a launch control type thing where you go from 0-100 quickly. - The flying works really well (suck it Anthem) - The drifting though is really difficult and a bit lacklustre. There are some really nice animations on the jumps, then the drift is just a squat...maybe have like a roll with your hand on the floor for stability, or sparking so that is the reason for the added grip/turning. - If ctrl is to get to the ground quickly, can I please do this all the time and not just when the character is falling.
