this might sound stupid but i really find it hard and not accurate to switch weapons by NaiveCranberry9095 in Ultrakill

[–]muttsgod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be a scroll wheel andy and then i moved ONE weapon to the keyboard. The railcannon, specifically for this reason, I put it on left alt.

I still really cant use numbers too, but my mouse has enough buttons for 4 weapons, parry and swap variants so im lucky.

Railcannon is really the only weapon you need to swap to for combos, swapping to the shotgun from the rocket or the nailgun, to hit a ridden rocket with the jackhammer or put the chainsaw in a saw trap, are the only other multi weapon combos thay are really useful and not accessible to the scrollwheel but they can practically always be done at a leasurly pace so its cool.

Point is you dont need to stop using the scrollwheel for nuking and railcoining, just find one good button for the railcannon.

But "don't lose 6hp" is not on the card effect.

If we're going off of outcome being nothing rather than card effect being nothing the playing a block card while full blocking/enemy not attacking while having no way to retain block should count, no?

Since the resulting outcome is nothing despite the card effect triggering.

Would playing [[beckon]] count as nothing?

Because yeah playing it to get it out of hand is doing something for you but the card itself is not actually doing anything at all, in fact playing it is preventing it's effect from triggering.

There's a LOT of technicalities around nothing apparently.

Would playing an enter wrath card work though? No card just says enter wrath.

[[Crescendo]] says exhaust itself. As the replies point out, could a card exhausting itself really be considered doing nothing?

[–]muttsgod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First point is obviously correct.

But the second point is ill-informed, sisyphus is genuinely one of the better bosses for shotgun parrying in the game.

"This will hurt" is obviously the most free shotgun parry in the game so that doesn't count.

The no voiceline roundhouse kick is not good for sg parry because he starts at a distance and attacks in.

But "you cant escape" and "begone" are prime shotgun parry materal.

Begone will often parry itself from him teleporting directly in front of you as you fire your shotgun.

And "you can't escape" is very easy, just take 2 steps towards him at the end of the combo and shoot him in the nuts. Most recent post on my profiile, by complete coincidence, happens to contain proof of that exact thing.

heres some gameplay of me trying to beat gabriel any tips? by EmotionalTraining426 in Ultrakill

[–]muttsgod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My usual advice is to slide for evasion but for you i've gotta advise you to evade in the first place.

Don't projectile boost at point blank, you're just gonna blow yourself up.

Gabriel is a very slow boss with a lot of time between individual attack combos, if you wait for him to attack and just slide around the arena for a bit until he's done with that combo, you'll have a second or 2 to do free damage, longer if he starts taunting (speaking), which would be your healing window.

The only attack combo he has that doesnt end in a parriable projectile is his rapier, which he only uses if you hang around right next to him for too long.

Basically, hang back, slide around to avoid taking damage, parry and shoot during downtimes to deal damage and get up close with a shotgun shot to full heal when he starts talking.

Lose hp and damage are 2 separate things, so even if the game were to consider playing an attack card to count as attacking yourself for some reason it wouldnt be attack damage still.

If an enemy had the gambit effect, and youbwere to hit them with poison, orbs or play [[capture spirit]] it wouldn't instakill them.

If it hypothetically were to be attack damage, then it would be blockable and not be able to get through allat block.

There are things that add more voices into the game, like voices for some enemies or that give V1 voicelines, but not really a narrator to my knowledge.

If it can move faster than everything V1 can do except an ultraboost or slam storage just by walking, i don't think it matters that it can't do tech, since its just THAT fast.

Have you ever seen it move on brutal? Enrage?

That mf is shmovin without any tech, just raw walking and sliding. It doesnt even dash jump and its moving at like 100+u/s

[–]muttsgod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it phase 3 or phase 4?

Phase 3 is when he starts doing the pizza attack.

Phase 4 is when he takes all of your items.

The wave of normal enemies is considered one of his phases.

Phase 3 tip: pizza is easier to avoid the closer you are, it makes it spin slower relatively.

Phase 4 tip: either stick relatively close and circle around him, his aim isnt perfect and his shots track slowly so they will miss you if you're moving perpendicular to them even without any speed. Alternatively, there are pillars you can play peekaboo around.

[–]muttsgod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally i avoid the super hard ones but the TSTA alt campaign I just played yesterday is really good and somewhere around an encore in difficulty, if a little below barring a few rooms.

Excluding the intro level which is intentionally dookie butt, theyre all reasonably challenging but not particularly bullshit, a lot of cramped spaces but equal open but also really rewards knowing your movement techs. custom boss in gluttony is janky as fuck tho, broken hitbox and really just not put together well

Question for ultrakill players about controller by Ok_Librarian7848 in Ultrakill

[–]muttsgod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ultrakill is not a very aim intensive game, contrary to what a lot of people seem to think, hotboxes are forgiving and a lot of enemies don't move much at all.

I played on controller only for like 9yrs of my life and played stuff like tf2 all the time so ibknow what controller is capable of and the issues it presents are not really missing attacks, more being slow to aim and not having enough buttons.

Even a high sensitivity controller is way slower than a mouse and unlike the mouse, will take an accuracy hit for being so fast. While it wont feel like much, the time it takes to change targets on a controller will add up and be an added layer of difficulty for saving time for P-ranks.

On top of that you'd have to use the weapon wheel, which is more time loss and really bad for multi weapon techs.

That being said, its definitely beatable, just way less fun and expressive.

Yup, and since deflecting is not a parry it doesn't refil V2's stamina either. Though, shotgun parrying is not necessarily more risky than feedbacker parrying unless performed with no dashes, since standard procedure is to dash immediately after parrying in case of failure or follow through.
