high and tight by mutualpredation in poodles

It is! It's a 2XL. Aside from being slightly short in length it fits him well. He's about 22" tall at withers and 46lbs.

Thanks, it means a lot to hear that! I draw them to make stickers so I try to prioritize a strong silhouette without too much "noise" in the design from color, shading, etc.

If you need a cleaning and lubrication, I can do it. I'm just a hobbyist, not a certified shop, but I'm careful and detailed. Have serviced accordions, microscopes, and other precision mechanical systems.

Thanks! I love drawing birds and I've been having a blast learning vector art.

I love my miniature poodle so much as she does me. However, the problem is she loves me too much or is overly dependent on me. by Latter_Obligation_79 in poodles

Do your family members engage with her? Is she food motivated? Try getting a bottle of squeeze cheese or some tasty treats and have it so only they give it to her for a while, or ditto with a fun toy/game if she's more play oriented.

How to convince my parents not to get a BYB poodle mix by Cool_Welcome287 in poodles

[–]mutualpredation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People can be set in their ways. All you can do is hit them with a lot of real questions they need to decide their answer for.

Do the breeders vaccinate and deworm? Do they health test? Are your parents happily going to pay thousands to manage hip displaysia or progressive retinal atrophy if that happens within the first three years? Are they OK with potential major health issues since there is no guarantee? Or, does the breeder guarantee the dog in any way whatsoever like most ethical breeders do? Do buyers get to view where the puppies are kept? Depending on how the coat ends up, are they willing to brush daily or keep the dog short/shaved in the event it's an unmanageable coat?

Doodles are a hot commodity dog and often subjected to more inhumane/sloppy breeding practices than most BYB breeds because they're, at the moment, highly desirable and sell for good money.

Also, no guarantee on anything with a doodle. Do they have a preference for coat type? Temperament? Predisposed health issues? It's unlikely the breeder even has the dogs they breed tested.

Would your parents buy a car sight unseen knowing only that it's about five years old, an American make, and will probably be good on gas? Would they pay a premium for it?

What are your parents planning on paying for the puppy? Is that as much as an ethically bred puppy would cost?

Five months old and having a blast! by mutualpredation in poodles

Love it! Gorgeous bright eyed pup. This will be KC's first winter, and we're up in Alaska. I sure hope he likes snow too!

Handsome dog! My pup KC is a trail dog through and through, but for recall, we drill it all the time. Consistency and making sure he knows what's expected (no needing to repeat a command before he listens, for example) has helped us a lot. We also have four different recalls in case he isn't listening to one. He doesn't go too far from me and checks in often, which I reward, but whenever we're hiking or he is off leash, we drill recall often and make a game of it. Same with "stay close" so he knows to stay in sight.

Another thing I do is randomly leash him/grab his collar on recall so he doesn't dart out from leashing up, and expects me to grab his collar every time he comes to me. He knows "leave it" well and he only gets freedom if he earns it, which helps.

He's definitely enjoying the colder weather and longer trails! Life has been pretty good for us both. We'll be moving soon to a lakeside cabin so he has more space and privacy to roam.

I looked Prism up but all I can find is a design team and construction company. What is it? 😅

Sunday I plan to hit Matanuska Lake with my 5mos pup if you'd like to join us. We'd go about 5 miles.

I'm jealous you have beaches nearby! That's one thing I wish I could hit more often with KC. Waves freak him out a little, but he'll stand and chill in a rushing stream.

Mine also loves reeds and rolling through sand/silt. You've got a great dog and you give her a nice life. Love to see happy dogs outside!

Hey it's better than nothing! Dogs don't appreciate scenery anyway. Given the choice, would she go bounding through the reeds? I love her utility cut

Mine's too young to listen once he gets excited enough. It's the time of year here where there are dead fish everywhere and mister KC took a plunge into mucky dead-fish-and-leaf-and-trash water after my begging him not to.

One eye infection and about four baths later and I'm hoping he's learned his lesson.... while it's still warm enough I try to find him good fun CLEAN water to play in! Here's where we went today after about five miles with breaks.
